Might be a silver key effect?
Charges via 65 W USB-C charger.
Soldered RAM
MX450 is ballpark Xe 96 EU level about.

the MX 450/ Xe 96 EU are just a bit faster than vega 7 in 5500U igp, the performance gap between them is likely negligible in real life application (i.e. more than fast enough for daily work, not fast enough for intensive work), unless you need the CUDA (but if you need CUDA, you would get RTX chips not MX chips). you end up paying more and having worse battery life for no performance gain.
this is akin to a desktop with 5700G and GTX 1030... doesn't make a whole lot of sense in my mind.

I don't know how many people want development in this area but I do.
Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank
However, at this price point a competent CPU and dedicated graphics present a compelling combination.
Good luck!

Dedicated graphics (with dedicated memory) can actually simplify other board design choices and are likely also a function of other designs and manufacturer agreements. Note that Asus has Intel versions which have been similarly equipped. Those make arguably more sense since the Intel iGPU is operational in low-power situations and the dedicated GPU kicks on when needed to optimize power usage. I don't believe this is the case in AMD designs...?
Good luck!

16gb or an extra slot would be an insta-buy.
I found a good video where it compares the 2020 to the 2021 model. This one has better speakers and USB C charging. Other than that they are quite similar. They do look different the 2021 is a bit taller. The speakers face to the side not down. The sound is better as well possibly because of the speaker position.
Do not expect too much from the GPU but better with it than without it. It does save a bit on the DDR as none is used for graphics.
This seems like a great price.
If you use multiple monitors you are covered.
"HDMI port, not one (1) but two (2) Thunderbolt ™ 3 USB-C"
That means each can do two 4k@60hz monitors or an 8K monitor.
You can upgrade the M.2 if you want. The first review at Best Buy has a picture.
