Everything's great when everything's great. It's the emergencies that are a problem.
Can't imagine your risk of the coof would be that high if your exploring the great outdoors or taking photos of the beautiful scenery.

Side note go eat at Oasis and also Airport Way restaurants. Don't eat at Turtle Club and the Chen Hot Springs is a waste.
Enjoy the incoming snow though!!
If you like to hike, Anchorage and Denali were great.
If you like craft beers, there are a ton of breweries, but state law requires most of them to close at 8.
Seafood was great. The Paris Club in Anchorage was excellent, so was the 49th state brewery.
If I were to go back, I would spend my time in and around Anchorage and Denali. Fairbanks was a smaller town, and there wasn't much to do that we found. We were also there too early in the year for the aurora.

One thing we did notice is that the state pretty much shuts down for tourism around mid-late September. This isn't surprising as we were getting some winter weather last week in and around Anchorage... got to drive through some pretty heavy snow. I'm not sure exactly when things open back up, but I would guess late spring. Do some research before booking or you might be disappointed to find a lot of places are not open.

You know you're in the largest state in the Union when you're anchored down in Anchorage.

Paying 4 or 5 times the airfare to rent a car for a week it may not be worth it.

Figured the last deal (BOGO) would put me there with not much to see during October - December, as far as wildlife. Not sure what to do but take a cruise after I got there would be useful or hit maybe one park or something.
Alaska is on the bucket list in the future.
I'll keep this in mind. IND to Anchorage was $150 round trip for the gauge I used.
