Note the bad reviews. And having network experience, I think those reviews sound valid.

If you filter by 8 port with special features they aren't bad. I have this switch and would get another for this price. I'm using the vlan functionality as well.

Came to see comments of decision based on metal vs plastic that all switch deals get. Guess I'm too early.

Anything particular wrong with this? I don't really need one, but wouldn't mind having one if it's a flaming deal

I have the Netgear GS116E which I got from Amazon warehouse surprisingly cheap. I'm interested in this one, but some of the reviews seem kind of rough. Does anyone have experience with this switch? I'm very very tempted at this price. How does the VLAN 802.11Q work.

I bought the GS116E a few years back as well, but they are no new updates and I wish there was more functionality. So going to be looking for a new one possibly with POE.

Your linked switch's name literally says "unmanaged" while OP's switch is "managed". You are comparing apple and orange. $25 for a managed switch is not bad at all

The TP-LINK switch you linked is unmanaged, but the managed version may be of no interest to you. I've linked the equivalent TP-LINK managed version below, it's only a buck more, and honestly I'd go with either the TP-LINK managed switch or the Netgear managed switch in this deal - they are functionally very similar and I have had great success with both brands.

Tom at Lawrence Systems does a nice review of the TP-LINK managed switch and how it can be set up for VLANs, if that's something you're interested in:
