Yeah only way to get LSA is buying it with a blemished or retail tool.

I believe its always been stand alone tool too? Unless you mean the battery? Last I knew the batteries were only covered if you bought them with a tool, or even a charger as a bundle. Always made sure I bought with the tool... always was allowed to register them. Knock on wood, going on 4+ years of ridgid 12v and 18v tools with no bad tools, or batteries. Though the 12v screw driver sucks. laugh out loud

Maybe I am misunderstanding Smilie

Sorry, i meant standalone battery. Go to a HD and read about the Lsa on just batteries. They are covered as standalone.

I wouldn't bite unless it's $10 per Ah or better, and especially not for a refurb.

The only reason anyone ever has bought a Ridgid tool is because of the LSA, no LSA, no buy.

I don't find the 2Ah or 3 Ah batteries all that useful, unless you are going for reduced weight. They just don't have much run time in some tools. Some Octane tools even say they run best with 4 Ah+ batteries.

Factory reconditioned: They brushed off the dust and slapped a 1 year warranty on it. There's nothing you can do to "spruce up" an aging lithium cell's output so far as I am aware. These are used batteries and very much a YMMV situation.

Use different tools for different tasks, batteries are the same way.
You'll have to find some supporting evidence that a 4ah standard battery performs better than a 3ah Octane with Octane tools, though.

The LSA is a good selling point that pushes people over the edge, but Ridgid is still the best tool for the money. They are made by the same manufacturer that makes Milwaukee, and they always compare favorably against those top tier tools, but at half the price.

LSA got me into Ridgid but I've never needed to use it in the 15 years I've had it. While it's nice I wouldn't hesitate to buy without it.

All the "new style" batteries have lifetime, so there is No reason to buy a older model battery that is not in a kit.
