NGL, these are convenient, and bright, little lights. Absolutely in for one (well, two). Can't / won't afford their bigger lights, but I'm not going to pass up nice stocking stuffers for a couple bucks.

Picked one up, got two of the i3e lights on the last deal and was pretty impressed by them. Thanks OP!

What is it about Olight that brings out the downvotes?

I just send an email to Olight, as they are incorrectly charging Sales Tax on shipping to the State of California. I referred them to the state publication here:
https://www.cdtfa.ca.gov/taxes-an...es-faq.htm

Where it states quite clearly that shipping is non-taxable in the state, based on the conditions of the sale (separately charged shipping, in the state example matches what Olight is doing, separately, so there is no tax on the shipping but they're charging it anyway). I expect a reply from them as well as a refund for the overcharge. Oddly, last November when they had a similar promo going on, they didn't charge tax on the shipping.

This is a quote from the state tax page referenced above:
"Delivery chargesYou have the property delivered directly to your customer using a common carrier, the U.S. Mail, or an independent contractor
Tax does not apply to the delivery charges under these conditions if the charges are clearly stated as a separate entry on the invoice or other bill of sale. If the delivery charges are not stated separately, they are taxable.
Example
  • You sell a refrigerator and have it delivered by an independent contract carrier. On the invoice, you show a $750 charge for the refrigerator plus a separately stated $50 charge for delivery (the amount charged you by the carrier). Since the delivery charge is stated separately, tax applies only to the charge of the refrigerator ($750). If the invoice had shown a single charge of $800, tax would apply to the entire amount."

Mine shows $8.44. I already have a i3E EOS. Pretty bright for a very small flashlight. Brighter than my Fenix EO5

You have a future in Congress. Can probably advise to get much better bills than these jokers.

i'm not necessarily an olight fan (they think they're the apple of the flashlight world but they didn't invent any of the technology)... but these i3 eos are great for keeping on your keychain. I have like 4 spares becasue they give them out so frequently for shipping cost.

don't get me wrong, their other lights are good too, but most have proprietary charging and are overpriced. I'll stick with my standard 18650 lights (or similar)

Thanks for the compliment Smilie

I like to read and learn, and this overcharge sticks in my craw, as it's already bad enough with the taxes we pay here in CA, I sure don't want to pay a tax I'm not even supposed to be paying.

Believe it or not, back in 2013 when my mom died in Florida, I had to be the executor of her estate, which I had zero knowledge of how to do. So the day I flew in to the state, I downloaded the entire Probate Tax website and spent all night reading every word. I learned a lot, in fact, more than the lawyer I was forced to hire to do the Probate (FL won't let you adjudicate the estate as a private person, you MUST hire a lawyer by state law). Long story short, I had to educate him on finer points of the law in order to get it done.

So this particular subject, about state taxes, is very clear and direct. They are simply not supposed to be charging the tax, and yet they are doing it. I'll try to post back when I get a reply from them about this issue. I think I threw them for a loop, because I noticed something they weren't paying attention to.

I am not sure what you are talking about. Mine had free shipping and I paid tax on the 2nd flashlight.

I think they're over hyped.
Got an i1R 2 EOS for $5 and it didn't even last a year.
The charging port broke.
It couldn't handle the continuous unplug and replug to recharge.
Else, the light is very bright for small flash light.

In my state (Massachusetts) it is perfectly legal to overcharge sales tax, as long as all the tax that is collected is submitted to the state. So in this example, if California is similar, than what they are doing is OK as long as the tax they are collecting on the shipping goes to the state of California.

They have an incentive to not tax shipping, so as to reduce the customer cost, and not aggravate people, but it is legal, if it works as Massachusetts does.

In the flashlight community, yes there is one, Olight is considered flashy but not a solid build. They have tons of colors, limited editions, etc. so they do get collected by their fans. But give me a Hank Wang KR1 any day.
