An i3-1115 is about 56,000 Octane score and 1300 single core, 2500 multicore on Geekbench 5. It has 48 EU for the cut down Xe iGPU, but it should have all the hardware decoding for various codecs, encoding is less extensive but covers a bunch.

An i5-1135, has 80 EU for the iGPU and will score 1350-1400 on geekbench 5 single core, with around 5,000 multicore for a 4/8 core/thread piece. Octane should be 58,000-60,000.

Note that octane for the m1 mac on chrome when native came out for it was about 62,000. Even though Octane is an old test it scales pretty well for the web experience.

Too bad. That's the biggest drawback.

Why do they do that?

Save $2 and space to make a budget laptop smaller.

If the screen is IPS, it's worth a look. This laptop comes in TN and IPS versions.

You forget one thing. M1 Air kills this in efficiency and battery life. This Intel is good for 2-5hrs of battery life

Yeah that's why you go for ryzen models which can get amazing battery life, diminishing a lot of the gains for M1 if you're doing light usage(pretty much every macbook air owner)

Of course that matters for people that need the efficiency.

I use chromebooks for travel and out of the house. Windows are my work machines they're home or at work. What mobile stuff I need to do can be done on Chromebooks. It's not that I don't want efficiency that pays off in many ways, I just don't need it.

You know what I look for - I look for a laptop that will let intels run at max power for PL1/2. I'll choose how to use it.

Its always this way.. Better deal on horizon and one end up waiting and waiting similar to Airppods pro threads.laugh out loud

This one is for $499.99 and one at costco cost $650+ tax. If one doesn't need all the gaming stuff its good everyday lappy for the price.

Soldered DDR uses half the voltage and also can run much faster. It is much smaller so takes less space.

There are lots of reasons not just about making it cheaper to make.

Rather nice you can have two M.2's and a SSD/HD both cost more so saying it is just to save $2 is simply not true.

That ad is done strangely. Hard to get good information. Seems they have a I3 one for $399 and a 17" I5 one for $469 in store.

When I went to the Staples they had very little on display or any information about notebooks easily found.
