Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

At the risk of being supercilious, one thing I'd remind peeps is that if you ordered a TV and it has shipped, it's not very nice to cancel the order because you changed your mind and decided you wanted something else. I see some people say they'll just wait until it arrives and then refuse delivery. Hey jokers, these are not smartphones - shipping a TV across country costs $100's of dollars. If you can't see the problem from a pure decency point of view, at least understand that generating costs like this on Samsung will mean they'll have to increase prices to cover the dick-wads who f' them around, and that hits all of us.

Goodnight. [mike drop]

Id keep the warranty and deal you have. Ear buds are fine, but not important in relation to protecting the expensive tv.
Thanks.
I guess I will keep it.

For anyone who is interested, this deal is still available where you get Samsung Care plus included for free when purchase with Samsung financing.

Question 1: Can this be ceiling mounted (with *studs*) right above my king bed for nightly usage? Tried of looking at screens at a 90 degree angle - would rather save my neck and look straight up as I finish off my day.

Question 2: If it falls 6 feet, can it kill you?
Projector is a way better idea.
A more socially acceptable solution is an adjustable bed frame.

A cheaper idea is prism glasses aka lazy readers. They are made specifically for this purpose, or reading laying down.

FYI this discount also works for First responders like health care providers, which I think might also include nurses. I picked one up and went through ID.me and it only took about a minute to verify using a passport photo.
not able to get the deal through first responders even though it verified, check out showing 3698, how were you able to do that, thank you

For people that's not working, you may have to click "Student & Educator Discounts" button all the way down. It's listed under "Offers" section along with other discounts such as government / military. I had to make sure that I click this for other orders in order to get the discounted price. I recently got monitors from Samsung and log in/pricing were all different depending on whether I click it or not.

Probably won't be the solution for everyone, but it might help someone. so just throwing it out there Smilie

A student spending 3k on a TV..... hmmmm someone didn't think this one out in marketing
au contraire, $3k is a drop in the bucket compared to what students pay these days in college. Should have a student loan discount option lol, roll it in … for educational purposes of course.

After it verified me through ID.me, I had to go back to that tab within the ID.me site and it asks if you want to share that info with Samsung. After I clicked yes to that, the discount showed up in my cart.

I'm so torn between buying this one or going for the LG OLED GX 77". Any suggestions?
OLED is going to give you way deeper contrast and blacker blacks because every pixel is a light. This TV has a fuzzier grid of backlights, which is nowhere near as sharp of contrast, so the picture might be an 8/10 instead of 10/10. However people are generally happier with their purchase when they buy larger TVs. If you leave your equipment on for extended periods of time you might get this, because of the risk of burn in with OLEDs. I'm personally holding out for an OLED; Costco has the Sony going on sale on the 29th.

Guess it depends on what your needs are, I decided on sony A80j over this and couldn't be happier. Although I'm also not someone that craves ultra bright viewing experiences as I generally have my picture settings @ dobly dark or custom for Sony. Downsides of Samsung is just the lack of dobly vision if that matters to you.
But that extra 8inches isn't huge...

I'm all about balancing the size and decor of the room it sits in. As I would love a 85" I ended up also passing on the fact that it would be focal piece of our living room.

If you like the extra bright and punchy saturated colors go with the Sammy, it is a solid deal for a flagship, and if you want deep blacks go with the oled.

Personally, I'd take a 77inch LG OLED over an 85inch qled. At that size it really isn't such a huge difference.

I used a 92 inch projection screen, then an 82 inch high power screen, and now a 100 inch screen. Size matters, even at large sizes. That being said, going from 92 to 82 was a huge upgrade for me because of picture quality. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

OLED picture quality is simply unmatched. If you are going to spend $3000 on a tv, get the best. 77 is still huge.

Edit: mask up and spend five minutes in a tv store comparing these TVs. OLED is the best picture quality I've ever seen.
Edit: so many thumbs down. Don't go to Best Buy, go to a high-if store. You can't really compare these TVs on the internet. Rtings comparison clearly suggests the oled is a better tv. I link to it in the post below this one. This is a $3000 purchase and you are looking on slickdeals. I'd check out OLED in person if you haven't seen it before, before spending $3000 on a tv. It's better if you can demo at a friends house, but not everyone has that luxury.

RTings basically says LG OLED is the best TV if you are watching TV in you moms basement or theater room with no light source in the room. At my area's Costco's the OLED CI display is horrible. Looks like a black mirror. Display is so bad all I see is florescent lights and anything behind the set during LG's highly edited video loop. The set cannot get bright enough to over come the reflections. The LG is a horrible TV for a bright room. So if you plan on living in the basement with all the lights off forever LG is for you, other wise I recommend the Samsung Q90 series.

This is the latest and greatest from Samsung right? Btw I see comments about a 3k tv for students…just know there are rich daddies and mommies out there…who buy their kids nice cars to go to college…I saw kids driving beamers in college…nowadays even your hondas, Hyundai's, Toyota's, etc. are expensive…20k min for a car

I agree that is BS. But your reasoning is flawed. Samsung makes enough money that several hundred dollars in shipping costs for say 1k people is like the change you keep in your car. It's a cost of doing business to be a market leader. They arent passing down the minor costs. Now a better reason is that the TV they return could've been delivered to someone who really wanted it but had to wait because of the chip shortage. Your comment, a drop mic moment? Come on man.

I hope the return costs are like the change in my car, but then I don't know for sure. On a global scale, maybe, but the prices and discounts that appear on Samsung.com/us could very well be affected if a bunch of people ordering TVs and returning them for shitz-n-giggles.

My main goal is to remind some people that just because Samsung.com is a faceless online entity, it doesn't mean that it's OK to f' them around. If they ship you a dud TV then sure, return it, but if you just change your mind because some other sparkly thing caught your eye then you're a fickle idiot and you're making someone else pay for your idiocy. I know people like that. They don't do their research up front and they jump on some deal and a day later they have buyer's remorse because they see some other deal. And you can see them here on SD. They are the guys asking "I just ordered X. Do you think I should cancel and order Y instead?". They rely on anyone other them themselves to make simple decisions. It's pathetic. Smilie

I'm ranting again so I'll stop now.
