Ok deal. I got the same set plus the reciprocating saw and the flashlight (which is actually very useful), as well as a way too big of a bag for $129 around Father's Day. I've been following this for a while and that was a decent deal at the time. There was a deal on the 4-tool combo like I got that was Brushless for $179 a bit ago. Gives everyone some perspective.

Home Depot and Ryobi are weird. Sometimes they will bundle brushless HP tools with non-HP batteries, but OP's bundle pairs low-end brushed tools with an HP battery .

Still a good deal for the kit with the big 4Ah HP battery that they've been too stingy to give away.

I think this deal is better for the 4ah battery for almost the same money. That 4ah can be used in other ryobi tools like the fan or light that you might want to be on for longer. I like to use the smaller batteries in the hand tools to keep them lighter and I don't need to use them that long anyway.

I wonder which would be the best deal, this or the previous $39 impact driver and the $59 drill with titanium bits and 2 1.5ah batteries and a bag. Thoughts?

wondering the same thing, waiting on my 59 drill to be delivered but may switch to this.

if the home depot prices are to be believed the 4.0mah battery is worth alone $60-$90 hmmm

I ordered the $59 and $39 deals too and saw this today. I ordered this and think it to be better deal because you get two 4.0 aH batteries and one 1.5 aH. I will return the previous orders. The 4.0 batteries are expensive.

The separate deal is giving you 4x 1.5ah batteries. This deal is giving you 1x 1.5, 1x 4.0, and 1x HP 4.0. You loose the drill bits and 1x 1.5, but are getting longer lasting batteries. If all you do is smaller jobs, then the 1.5's will suffice. However, for larger jobs, and especially if you are going to add more power-hungry tools to your collection, the 4.0's are going to be a better deal. Dollar value wise, this one is a little better as well, the 4.0's are worth more than the 1.5's, even with the included bits.

The P1817 2-tool combo comes with (2) 1.5Ah battery, plus the bundled 4Ah HP battery (as shown in the product photo). The HD product description saying that you get (1) 1.5Ah, (1) 4Ah, (1) HP 4Ah is incorrect.

This is true. Owning a high capacity 4+Ah battery allows one to buy additional high drain/demand tools like circular saw and outdoor tools, tools that perform poorly with the compact batteries. When I finally got (2) 4Ah in around 2015 I was freed to snatch all the Ryobi 18V tool deals out there.

I ordered the drill + 2 1.5Ah battery deal the other day for $60 but didn't open yet. This is better for me. I can use the 4Ah battery and I was already looking for the impact driver

I'll return the drill set

Thanks OP!

So if I can flip the drill and impact for $50, is $50 a good deal for these 3 batteries? Or will there be a better deal on a 4ah and 2ah soon?

I got the previous 2 deals. Driver, charger, battery and the Drill, 2 batteries, charger, bag and drill bit kit. I also paid $99 but I like my 2 deals better. I got 2 chargers and the drill bit set. I lose out on the higher capacity battery but I still have 3 regular batteries and I get an additional charger and drill bits. This is a great deal too though.

Tempting. 15 years ago I wouldn't touch Ryobi stuff but I just recently started getting their yard tools because the price was right and I was tired of fighting mix-fuel tools that my wife couldn't start. Pretty much everything I've gotten from them over the last year or so has been very functional.

I have pretty comprehensive collections of Ridged and Milwaukee battery tools and have been through Makita and Dewalt tools as well and I'd put the Ryobi collection in the same category now. They've greatly improved.

My wife has recently decided we're going to be "campers" so I'm trying to outfit the bumper-tow RV she bought (please kill me now) with tools and this set may make the cut. I can add it to the digital tire inflator and the Bluetooth 5 speaker system and carry one charger to keep it all running. The extra batteries certainly won't hurt. Great find OP!

Huh... In posting this reply I talked myself into it. Ha!
