I'm an idiot and didn't take tax into consideration.

Regardless, in for one. The add'l dimming zones over the 55" variant makes this an incredible buy, especially considering Hisense has shown favored support to this model in updates over the 55".
Guys, if you get this, make sure to register the TV within 14 days of receipt. One of the terms for 100 days trial seem to require you to register the TV in order to be able to exercise your 100 days return right. They also pay you back with visa prepaid or paypal it seems...

Price looks great and very tempting though.

Viewing angles are great on my 75U6G?

I have two U6G's 75 & 50 inch, on the 50 inch contrast and older 480 content looks better than the 75 so the 50 may be VA but the 75 is not.

Both panels have deep blacks with minimal blooming so I'm happy no matter what type of panel it is.
As the owner of two U6Gs, I'd like to ask what differences you see between them? I am interested in the 50" U6G to replace a 6 year old 1080p Vizio in the bedroom, but I've read that the 50" doesn't have as many dimming zones and has more blooming than the 55" and up, and otherwise is a worse TV compared to larger sizes so can't go by the reviews for other sizes when considering the 50" U6G. Have you seen this? Any other thoughts/complaints about the 50" size?

Has anyone bought the 65" from this deal and gotten a tracking number yet? I bought it on the 27th and still haven't received a tracking number. Might end up canceling and just having it shipped from Amazon or bestbuy and get it within days without the $70 off code.

I ordered mine yesterday afternoon and just received my shipping email about 24 hours later.

This makes me hopeful that even with chip shortages and whatnot we'll have an interesting BF season this year!

Yes slightly more blooming on the 50" but black levels seem fine. The 50" has no option to smooth motion via software like with other models. Overall just seems like a different TV when compared to the 75" version, sometimes the TV will lag a bit while turning it on and even show a black screen instead of the OTA channel, changing the channel brings the picture back. Another thing is when you log into a new streaming app the sound will shut off and the only way to bring it back is to hard reset. (unplug the power cord) Get a popping sound from the speakers every now and then. The 75'" has none of these issues and has been rock solid.

U6G 55" is only $520 at best buy now, maybe you should go with that one.

I have last years Hisense H9G and while these Hisense TVs may sound good for gaming on paper, they are poor in actual use. When you turn on Game mode the picture degrades a LOT. The input lag improves immensely, but the picture turns seriously ugly. Avoid Hisense if you game.

Thanks for the input. Doesn't make me feel great about the 50". I wonder if it is a 60Hz panel and the others are 120, that's why no motion settings. Also, the little bugs like audio dropping or black screen make me nervous. Could be real annoying, especially if it gets worse over time.

I realize the price is very close and the 55" is in fact a better buy. It's really a question of size for me, not the price since they are so close. I am already going from 43" to 50", and where it is in the bedroom 55" would be really really close to interfering with a dresser next to it or maybe actually interfering. The other side has a chimney column so limited in moving it that way.

Wow that's crazy. Glad it seems like it will work out ok for you. Please update us when you get the set.
It was delivered today.

As far as I can tell the panel I got is perfect. I can spot no issues at all, and already have it mounted up on the wall. Looks great. Far better than I actually expected, after watching a bunch of videos and comparisons online. The blacks online looked much brighter than they actually are in person. Not OLED level, but still very very black. Do not really have much bloom or any issues at all. I am coming from a 2015 Samsung UN65JS8500 which had horrible side backlight problems where they bled through and caused the TV to run hot enough to burn on touching, which luckily Samsung gave me a $1119 prorated refund for.

Contacted Amazon after I received it as well to get the price difference back between the two orders. They said they were going to refund me $183 and even confirmed the amount, but when I actually got the text about the refund for some reason it was only $150. Still a great deal, and I am not going to worry about contacting them for the other $33.

My final cost after tax for the 65U8G was $1,059.31.

I updated the firmware, and also did the TCOM update manually and verified there is no ghosting at all when my PS5 is plugged into the 2.1 port.

Currently I am using the AI Ran Auto Picture mode and it looks stunning.

So another update, I just canceled my order with beachcamera and filed for refund with my bank. I went the bestbuy route for peace of mind in case I need to do a return. Bestbuy's UG8 is now $1104.99 and Amazon has it for $1101.34 before tax. After taxes, it's about $60 more than beachcamera after taxes. The $60 extra for peace of mind and easier returns to a brick and mortar was worth it to me. Good luck to the rest of you slickdealers and enjoy your tvs!

Anyone know if this would be a good replacement for a Samsung plasma? Reviews mentioned that the active backlight dimming does a good job with dark scenes so I'm hoping it won't be a downgrade from a plasma.

Going to anything other than an OLED or another plasma (which are no longer made) is going to result in a downgrade from true blacks, as plasma TVs produced true blacks like OLED sets. It will also result in a downgrade of viewing angle. Even with that comment though, the blacks are fantastic on this TV, and with all the other new features that are just not possible or available on any plasma TV sets it is a good upgrade. Luckily you also do not need to take anyones word for it either, as Hisense has the 100 day trial so you can just look at it yourself.
Once you set local dimming to high this looks stunning. Watched quite a few "4k True Black" demo videos on youtube and they looked fantastic.

I looked at a ton of different video comparisons and reviews online before I ordered this TV, and not a single one of them, even the ones praising the TV, did an accurate job showing what the blacks actually look like in person (better than online videos).

I am returning my TV tomorrow, by the luck of the draw, I got a panel where half the screen is lit, and the other half is not. I would say poor quality check but hisense. The brightness is impressive and I really wanted to like it. It works great during day light and bright rooms but in the night all the flaws are noticeable. I am sure in the next couple of years or so hisense will catch up to the bigger names.
