Since someone inevitably asks whenever this model is on sale, no, this doesn't have a dedicated wireless backhaul, but it does support a wired backhaul.

Cnet did a review [cnet.com] of the two node version and came away less than impressed.

If this is the same model I have, it does/doesn't. When I look at my setting on my phone, sometimes it reads 2.4, sometimes 5. Overall, I hate it because I need a real dedicated 2.4. but the wifi has been great overall.

I bought one of these off of Woot refurbed for $150 and it was trash. First apparently you can't do wired backhaul with both. I connected them to a router and was using all 3 as APs only. And after a day it continuously dropped all connections every couple of hours requiring a reboot. The interface is extremely sparse.

I do have 60+ wireless something devices, not sure if that's what was causing the issues.

That's a lot of devices. What did you replace it with?

Wireless mesh + Dual band = BIG NO!

Look for a Tri-band router mesh system.

Have you found a mesh system that works well for you? What do you recommend?

I just bought the Asus XT8, but have yet to set it up. I have some gnarly requirements such as being able to able to support 2 OpenVPN servers. I have been using Netgear Nighthawk AC1700 with AdvancedTomato so far. All I want to do is get better range if anything at this point.

The mk63 had issues where you couldn't separate the SSIDs and some older 2.4 Ghz had some issues linking it. I will update when I get the Asus XT8 set up.

One thing to note is that the Asus XT8 is more than double the price as well.

It's possible you got a bad refurb. You can definitely do wired backhaul with both ... just use a switch. That's what I'm doing with 67 devices and all have been working flawlessly. Speeds have been extremely fast no matter where I am in my home.

Amazon makes you login to the router and apparently there is no web UI for the Eero. Who knows what data they are scraping.

So that's what I assumed, I actually use it a bit differently as I only use it as an AP and have all my satellites wired, but I am guess either a bad refurb, or maybe too many devices...

I got this and am happy with it:

https://www.costco.com/tp-link-de...75280.html

It's tri-band and two of three blankets my house, garage, front, and backyards with fast wifi.
