I have one of these and it makes a terrific cup of coffee. Not a traditional pour-over per se, but definitely better than an automatic drip hands down! These are the same one's sold in Star Bucks and made by the same company, just without the Star Bucks branding.
I wish it wasn't plastic, but of course glass and ceramic would be more $$$.
This is plastic btw

Any fellow Aeropress users here?
If so, would love your thoughts on how this pour-over device [likely] compares.
I have both and use both. They both make a good cup. The Aeropress is more hands on during the brew process. I use the Oxo at work because I can start it and ignore it and then the clean up is faster, just toss the filter and rinse it out (not that the Aeropress is that much more effort). That being said, I really just got the Oxo for the office because who knows how often they clean out that coffee machine?

I have I regular melitta cone, use a #4 filter. I dump 1cup hot H2O in it, 40sec later great coffee. What am I missing out on here.
You're grinding way too coarsely if it's flowing through and brewing in 40 seconds. You're getting a pretty under extracted cup that way. Try knocking your grind size in half and dialing it in so it brews in about 3-4 minutes. You probably won't be able to dump all the water in at once since it won't flow as fast. And of course be sure to weigh out the beans and water and use a good ratio like 1:15 for beans to water.

If you want something to aspire towards, this is a good method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AI4ynXzkSQo That's for a V60 so your Melitta brewer isn't exactly the same and can't flow as fast, but you can get pretty close to it.

Here's ceramic for about $1 more.

Kajava Mama Pour Over Coffee Dripper - Ceramic Slow Brewing Accessories for Home, Cafe, Restaurants - Easy Manual Brew Maker Gift - Strong Flavor Brewer - V01 Paper Cone Filters - Black, 1 Cup https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8K6...TPKY8B2CA7

$15 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BYF99CA for the melitta one, the kajava has an absurdly large size hole at the bottom, beyond blowing out filters most would just go through too fast.

This one is preferable because its ceramic and large, uses #4 filters not #2 like the oxo.

Only down side is you gotta hold that handle when washing, so easy to drop when wet lol

You're supposed to wait at least 30 mins after brushing before you eat or drink to let the fluoride bond with your teeth.
I forgot to add that I load up my laptop and do some work then grab the coffee, have to wait for it to cool also so it can vary between 20-40 minutes before the first sip.

Aware far fewer people care about and is fine with automatic dripping coffee ☕ machine is pretty much made of plastic than this plastic gadget. On separate note, I have this oxo, found the coffee ☕ is lighter than the automatic dripping one given the same amount of coffee powder and water. The end result is i use a lot more coffee powder. Maybe I am a minority, I go back with regular coffee machine.

I recently discovered Vietnamese phin coffee makers. About the same price but made of stainless steel. No paper filters. It has an integrated tamper which gives me a 5-10 min brew time for a really potent cup, but you can adjust that to your liking if you want a shorter brew. You just pour the water all in at once and let it do it's thing. It floods the entire layer of grounds so no grounds are wasted, not even at the edges. Conical ground holders just don't make sense to me anymore.

Thank you, this is neat! Checks all the boxesBig Grin

I bought this for camping to replace the single cup plastic cone pour over I have. There are several of us and it got annoying making every person their own cup of coffee. I have to pour and fill this a little more than twice but I can make about two 20 oz cups of coffee with 5 cups of water having to boil in a pan only once. Anymore than that and it doesn't work well. Or 3 smaller cups. Also only having to use one filter and less coffee getting used up is a plus. I set this up on top of a large double walled thermos or insulated coffee pot. I'm very happy with my purchase. Makes good coffee.

I picked this up last time it was on sale, but just can't get myself to make it my go-to. My biggest issue is that I feel the drip from the filter isn't very even and you get lots of pockets in the process instead of even water distribution. I do like that I can pour all at once though. I usually stick to V60, but still continue to experiment with this.

Is there a permanent filter instead of disposable one for this brew pour?
there are metal filters, not sure if they fit this. Bodum has pour overs with metal filters (not in this self pouring systems, first time I see something like this). There are also non-branded or other brands that make v60 style metal filters too. they are like small sifter
