No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).
Damn. I bought my 750h 5 months ago. I cooooould return it. But that's kind of a dick move for a perfectly working item
That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

So looks like S760 would be Audyssey and not Audyssey XT.On fence this from Costco with warranty and all or close the deal on a X1400 that has Audyssey XT <200 from acquaintance..X1400 doesnt have eARC .,I would love to use the native TV App for both Audio and Video
None of the S series in the past had Audyssey XT only Denon X series has it.

Interesting... We've heard from other posters earlier that the NVIDIA 30xx all tested good.... Must be some discrepancy in parameters between you two somewhere..

If anyone has any suggestions I'm all for it. My next intention is to try two of the EXACT same cables. These are both certified and both function correctly when going from gpu direct to pc, but who knows, maybe being different manufacturers causes a hiccup somewhere. Next option is to swap out at Costco for a replacement in case of a bad unit.

The entire path end to end must be highest speed certified, I'm assuming this is what you'll be testing by using 2 of the exact same cables... let us know! Oh and 2 more ideas: 1) are you running the latest Nvidia drivers? 2) Someone mentioned somewhere in this thread about having to enable "Enhanced HDMI" or something like that for this work in the AVR video settings...

All fixed! I didn't see that thread about HDMI Enhanced at that fixed my issue, opening up the 120hz option. Odd that would be disabled by default when it's the main selling point for a lot of us. Oh well, cheers and thank God I can finally get rid of my old workaround 😂

Awesome! Glad it worked, and glad that this receiver continues looking like a silver bullet. Now somebody have pity on or gratitude for your OP here and sell me an Xbox Series X for $500! Haha cheers all.

If you bought it from Costco, they'll take it back, working or not. If it's actually still in perfectly working condition, just let them know that so that they can try and sell it used/without box, etc. All you have to say is that the quality wasn't to your satisfaction for the price and that you think there's better options available out there for you. It can literally just be because "I don't like it." Say you kept it so long because you wanted to give it a full trial, yadda yadda. Most of the time they really don't care.

And if they don't give you your money back for some crazy reason, they'll usually either give you store credit (which you can put towards the new item), or just let you pick out a 'replacement' for the same price or lower. If it's higher, you just pay the difference.

I don't think it's really a dick move. You literally pay them an annual fee just to shop in their store. The rest of the perks are there to both further entice you as well as stave off the competition. They uphold that mighty return policy because it's what keeps people coming back - the safety and security that you can make high priced purchases without the full commitment. MOST of the time we really do stay committed - we just needed that safety net.

Do some people abuse it? Surely. But I doubt it's enough for it to really make any difference to them at the end of the day. They've got a pretty solid business model that's positively thriving, even in these times. So seriously, if you really want this instead, I say go for it. That's the beauty of it. It'll make you happy, right? You'll walk out of there feeling like a king with your new product in hand, and for them, well, they can rest assured you'll be returning again and again and, of course, renewing that membership. 👍🏻 It's a win/win.
And people that abuse it will get their memberships revoked, so it's really a win-win for Costco.

It doesn't include Audyssey multEQ XT32 which may be a dealbreaker for some people like me.
None of the S-series receivers do. Only the X-series receivers have Audyssey multiEQ

Fyi a issue I discovered today with my PC and my Series X.. if you don't set the Denon to 8k enchanced in setup you can't run 4k 120hz. I wondered why it asked id I had a 8k tv during setup. Later when I had some issues with my Xbox saying my tv does not support 4k 120hz it hit me. Went in and changed the setting and all my problems were resolved. I'm assuming that enables HDMI 2.1 or similar hardware. Not sure why it does not default to that or making it clearer in setup that even if you dont have a 8k tv you need to enable it.

No mainstream AVR (I do not consider the HTiB units an AVR) at ANY price will have powered sub outputs. You're better off getting the lowest price AVR that fulfills your main speaker needs then buy a cheap external amp to power your subwoofer via the sub-out connections in the AVR. No point in sending a full range signal to your sub. It will sound like crap if it doesn't have a built in low pass filter.
You can get a crossover circuit for $15 at the low end, significantly cheaper than a standalone amp.

As i was reading your posts, that was the first thing I thought of, enabling HDMI Enhanced. Glad someone else also posted and got it working for you.

Not sure why it is disabled by default but at least you were able to find it with ease.

On the Onkyo, it is actually in a "secret" menu!! I had to read a Reddit post that explained how to get to that secret menu. I almost returned the receiver.

Picked this up tonight and am enjoying so far except for one issue with my shield pro. Anyone having issues with their shield and this receiver?

I have an LG gx connected to the denon. All cables are 8k certified zeskit. I'm getting "invalid format" when I connect the Nvidia shield pro directly to the receiver. Only thing that solves it is to turn off ultra hd deep color for that input on the tv menu which means I am limited to 4k 30hz. Same result if I switch HDMI mode on the denon from 8k enhanced down to standard. Pretty confident the cables are fine as the PS5 is outputting 4k60hz and I've used these for my tests. Connecting the shield pro directly to the tv with eARC for audio works fine. I've tried various HDMI inputs on the receiver (media player, aux1, aux2, game) but the problem happens with all. I know the game input runs fine as the PS5 works with it. Feels like a specific issue with the shield pro. Has anyone had issues setting up their shield pro with this receiver? I've even reset the shield to factory defaults and the problem is still there. Anyone run into these issues? I'd be grateful to hear if so. I was hoping this would replace my tsr-700 but so far no luck...

I'm currently running a LG CX, Sony STR-DN1080 receiver with Klpisch Reference Theatre Pack and a PS5.

Other than the HDMI 2.1 on this receiver, are there any other benefits I'll get? I see I'll be downgrading from 100w to 75w.

Are you able to get the UI to function while on the Series X? That is, the on screen display like info and options. Do those show up while on the Xbox input?
