No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).

Damn. I bought my 750h 5 months ago. I cooooould return it. But that's kind of a dick move for a perfectly working item

That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

I have the exact same dilemma.
Don't ruin the policy. Would BestBuy or any other retailer allow such a sham? No! You ate 50% of the steak, so you pay for the meal and not return if its that bad.

I did not return my current receiver.
I agree with you.
I am a Costco fan boy, I don't abuse their great return policy.

Yeah, follow a guide to make sure you're doing it right, but the Denon and the Yamaha set my fronts as large with a low cross over, but since my main use case is movies/tv/gaming its better to set them all to small and the cross over to 80, so i always change things to small and adjust cross over, i dont mess with the distances as they're generally close. I usually bump up the center too, but havent needed to yet after my last calibration and the dialogue enhancer on.
Thanks

Got mine today but both my Xbox and Apple TV (latest) are only connecting at 1080p and won't recognize the receiver as capable of 4k. Anyone else have this issue? Is there some configuration on the receiver that needs to be done?

I had a Pioneer Elite setup identically and both devices worked fine in 4k with that box so not sure what's wrong with this setup.

Under settings, 4K/8K TV Format, set to '8K Enhanced' instead of 'Enhanced'.

will this help improve sound quality from AppleTV4K(newer model), Shield and Google TV connected to LG B7 OLED? I have Vizio M512a-H6 Soundbar (5.1.2) connected via ARC. Usually, using any source, dialogues are not clear no matter what settings i change and always end up cranking up the volume.

and the ARC is a pain in you know what. i have to reboot the soundbar once every week atleast to get the handshake to work.
Might be the small center channel in the sound bar.

Total novice here. Will this be able to run these?

I am sure these speaker setups are probably better than the Jamo 809's, right?

Sharing my experience regarding the audio setup:

1. Initially ran setup full audyssey set everything to automatic suggested settings including auto EQ, it was fine but for some reason my surround speakers were louder than the main speakers.

2. I reran the Audio Setup and followed the screen measurements more closely it does specify for each sound position to be no more than 60 cm or 2 ft apart. This seems to have achieved better balance as I initially wasn't paying close attention to the original mic setup position. I also turned off Auto EQ as well.

I returned my TSR-700 back in January. It took me about 20 days to figure out just how much of a POS it really was. I think BestBuy's returns are 14 days? So I'm off by 6 days, big deal.

If they take it back, Who gives a flying Fock, really? Honestly, Jesus Christ. They're known for that. Take it back, box or remote or not.

Especially something like the TSR-700. Not only did it not have all of its advertised features, but it's buggy as hell. I actually preferred just doing without a receiver for these several months until something better came around because the TSR-700 caused so many damn problems, usually involving the screen going blank for no apparent reason. Yamaha also promised that software fixes were coming soon, and they never came.

The S760H works perfectly, it sounds better, and it has an actual OSD instead of a tiny crappy LED display that you have to walk up close to in order to see.

I hope Costco can get their money back from Yamaha, they were really sold a turd there.

I know that thing had some issues and still needs to be resolved but I thought it was good product at a good value don't you think?

Does Denon sound better than Yamaha? I was too late on the yamaha deal but perhaps this is a good thing. I am being stingy and waiting to go down to $399 but I might just splurge after the 15th. Fug it.

Well good value is relative. Compared to the S760H? Hell no, it's a crap value.

Changing inputs was slow, changing codecs was slow, sometimes when you changed inputs the picture stayed black, so you'd have to keep switching back and forth inputs until it finally showed up. Dolby Vision from ShieldTV always resulted in a black screen. ARC had constant audio dropouts and was basically useless, which means you MUST deal with all of the screen blanking problems.

Honestly the thing was just a headache that was sitting next to my TV. I'd say it's worth maybe a quarter of its selling price, at which point I'd say "ok, at that price I can just put this dinky little machine in my study, though now I also need to buy speakers"

I think it does. Or rather, it sounds a bit brighter, which is my preference, and the signal to my subwoofer isn't getting a ground loop like it was with the Yamaha, and the bass also feels a lot more convincing without needing to be louder.

Wow, I was not aware. On another thread, it was mostly positive. I bet they're all rushing to return the Yamaha and purchasing the Denon. Applause

Thanks for sharing! Good to know.

You're trying to reason with a hater and that's a waste of time. The TSR-700 is a solid machine - I know because I have one and have been using it for the last year. Bitchers will always find a a reason to bitch. Both Denon and Yamaha makes good products that have features appropriate for their price points. I'd be happy to buy either.
