Just the opposite. The Pegasus was the original logo/company. Most people are just used to seeing the premium brand mobil 1. Yes mobil 1 syn is better than mobil syn, i didnt even know mobil had a syn...

I actually just did an oil change, using a HM synth blend, since that's what I had left over from previous oil changes. This was before I replaced or even decided to replace the seals and I figured that with old seals it couldn't hurt. Shortly after I did the oil change I flushed the coolant with some pretty strong cleaner and it took out a bunch of gunk that caused a leak, so I decided to replace the TB & WP and while I was in there also the front seals.

I also removed the valve cover and saw a bunch of gunk in there. I took out as much as I could manually but the rest will have to be removed with several oil changes and running the car in-between for relatively short distances. So I guess it's ok to run the existing HM oil for a bit and then replace it with non-HM oil, if it's not going to swell the new seals much? And should each quick oil change use standard, blend or synth?

Again its not going to swell a good old seal. Its not going to swell a good new seal. If you are changing every 3-4k and its not "high performance", aka 5w30, good old quality conventional is great. If you are changing twice a year, id run whatever full synth is on sale.

Blend is marketing and worthless, its just there to take your money.

If your engine has tight tolerances and needs water for oil, aka 0w20, i wouldnt risk it, and just buy the premium sheet.

there is a big difference between that and something like a gm v6 from the mid 2000s. this stuff is fine for daily drivers, i've run supertech synthetic in my dailies and have yet to have one not pass 200k and keep going.

on the flip, you aren't wrong for custom engines. I run royal purple or mobil1 on both my modified cars.

I disagree, any synthetic oil holds up just fine based on my experience across multiple cars. They're all "good enough" at this point for factory applications, regardless of brand.

Off brand tires as well as perfectly usable. You may compromise in one or more areas such as tread life, grip, efficiency, noise, etc. But doesn't mean you shouldn't use them. You just have to set your expectations accordingly and not exceed their limit
