Good gaming headsets, in my experience, do a bit better with locational sound mixes (surround sound effects). They're usually designed with that in mind. They also will have a decent quality mic built in that is designed to easily swing away, often a mute button, and typically built in volume and mix controls (like increasing and decreasing voice chat volume VS game audio) that are often lacking on dedicated headphones.

That said, for the same amount of money you can usually get better sounding headphones, it just won't be all-in-one. I have a Sony MDR7506, and it sounds better than headsets I've heard that cost twice as much.

Question of my own for owners: anyone who own these who can comment on how much weight they put on top of the head? Every headset I try ends up giving me headaches... Either they're heavy and pull down on top of my head, or they're pressing into the sides enough to cause pressure headaches. Pretty frustrating.

Can Amazon price match this?
Amazon does not like to price match anything nowadays, well, at least when I call.

These are plug in, so they work with all consoles, and don't need charging. Mic is good and folds out of the way. Unmatched sound quality in games like Warzone where you need to know where the footsteps are coming from. Must buy at this price. I love mine.

I think what he meant was that its a total of $50 off with the new customer $10 off code
$170 to $129-$10 = $50

This is the cheapest its gonna get. It's a decent budget set with a good mic.

The best bang for buck for in gaming is a HyperX Cloud2 ( a re-badged takstar pro80) from Amazon warehouse deals for $30 when they have their sales.

The Valorant team Sentinels uses the cheaper Cloud2's when they have access to any of the HyperX line.

I am currently using a pair of DT990 Pros. No complaints but I'm interested in these. Anyone know if these perform noticeably better in FPS?

They have a different sound signature and I don't think they will be better based on my experience with them. Basically little bass forward mids typical sennheiser sound of the 5xx series but worth it if your also want the mic . Have you tried the tygr 300r ? They should be fairly similar to the 990s but slightly better tuned for gaming

Thanks for the reply! I have not tried the TYGR 300R. Are they a definite step up? I was interested in these due to the price. The TYGR is $180.

Not sure about these but have you tried the older audio technica headsets (a500/700/900)? Fantastic all around and so so comfortable unless your head is tiny.
