Further, since I am executive, I get 2% back from costco and I also get 2% from my credit card company which gives 34$.
Final deal: $816 for a 1000$ southwest card.
That's a 22% deal. If I assumed index funds give me 10% every year, I better use up these southwest credits within 2 years for a good ROI on my upfront loading of credits. I think I will.

You cannot use your Rapid Rewards points to pay for 100% of the ticket - you have pay the fee with something else (e.g. gift card or credit card).
One thing to be away is that while Southwest has amazing cancellation policy (no fees up to 10 minutes prior to the flight), you won't get the balance back on the gift card if you paid with a gift card. You will get travel funds instead (good for 12 months). Other than that Southwest gift cards are awesome and a lot more convenient to use than many other airline gift cards (e.g. Delta is a major pain).
