Auto renews at regular price at the end of your first 3 months of service
This is correct. You can manager your payment setup easily at unrealmobile.com/login at any time after activation. We offer 12 month bundles for our plans that offer a greater discount than the standard 3 month renewal rate. There is also an affordable 1 month option for all plans.

Hmm I'm able to call and text with my phone's default dialer. I haven't been able to get my hotspot to work though. Not sure if it's my phone or something on Unreal's end
Same here. I have tried it with 3 different devices and not one works. Every other carrier sim I use it works fine. It is Unreal Mobile. I have contacted them several times and they were never able to correct it. I got rid of them because all I needed it for was hotspot.

I got in on the target 3gb for 3 months for $15 on 3 of the family lines. So far so good. ATT is strong in my area. We all use google voice so we did not care about the numbers they gave us or that the numbers will expire at the end of 3 months. No specialized app use needed, I think that was needed prior to redpocket taking them over. Since the sim was prepaid from target I do not need to worry about them auto charging me at renewal, they do not have any payment/credit card info from me. Our 3 months run out at the beginning of December so we will see what they, cricket, and Mint are offering for black Friday.

Is there a way to turn off autorenewal?

Edit: After reading some of the other comments. Here's my experience.

I ordered from the last Unreal Mobile deal. I had never used them, but I had previously bought a one month Red Pocket GSMA sim card to try them for the first time, and I was happy with their service.

The first sim card never arrived, but I called Unreal and they sent me a new sim card right away (would have been nice if they expedited it though). I was able to install and activate without any issues. The service has been working well. And no, contrary to what some have said in this thread, I do not need an app to make calls or texts. I don't even have their app installed. The speeds are decent (just did a test and got 27 down and 10 up on the GSMA sim card (with two bars), which is fine for me and what I paid). The hotspot function works as it should. Was able to connect my laptop and the speeds were fine.

So far, for $30, this is just as good as Mint Mobile (which was my previous sim that I used for two years).

Just FYI because someone asked

UNREAL Mobile is an MVNO that operates on the T-Mobile and AT&T networks. The company was launched in early 2018 by FreedomPop. It was designed with the idea of being a more premium product that could still offer budget pricing. In 2019, Unreal Mobile along with the FreedomPop brand were purchased by Red Pocket Mobile.

Newer iPhones can handle GSM and CDMA, correct? That would mean I can pay off my Verizon MVNO (Xfinity Mobile) iPhone 11 and bring it over?

Thanks for the help.

Ditto
I did the target $15 for 3 months, 3gb/mo deal.
I transferred my number from Mint to Unreal took about 30 min. No app required, I juts activated the sim on Unreal website. Coverage is very good in my area (77407) and internet speed about 30-40 mbps, I am happy with that.

Haven't tried the Hotspot, but leaning towards renewing after3 months,

That is correct for most models, but please check the lock policy with your current provider.

Under previous ownership, UNREAL Mobile used an app for calls and texts. Under current management, all service run on a native cellular network like the majority of carriers. You can learn more at unrealmobile.com/coverage.

My iPhone is SIM locked. Once I pay it off, they will unlock it by request. They (Xfinity) normally do this within 24 hours. They're good about it.

I couldn't port my number from tello to unreal so I called customer service and they put in a trouble ticket weeks ago and told me they would contact me via email. Never happened. I'll try again in a few weeks before my tello subscription renews but if I have the same issue, I hope they will give me a refund.
