I actually just filed a warranty claim on the clock, after about 11 months one of the LED's on the display died. It makes the number 9 show as a 3. I'm fighting with their customer service to get it fixed. Have spent over an hour on the phone with them over this stupid clock.
FYI, since Walmart's app update, they have removed the in store scanning function on clearance pricing; however, if you use Walmart + it will still scan the clearance price in store. Sneaky and dirty way to push people to +, but if you are a clearance hound, it is what it is.
I got this recently and just returned it. The "hey Google" voice recognition was horrible on this essential clock. Had to practically yell. I have 6 x Google minis and a single home and I can talk in a normal voice level to activate hey Google. Maybe I got a lemon. Ymmv.
Picked up a couple Google hubs on Slickdeals and much happier.
Not a lemon; they're just trash. I have two of these and multiple Google Homes including Minis and like you said, the lack of a second far field microphone makes voice recognition below usable (required 5+ attempts to set a radio alarm every night before it gets the station right) . Ended up using it as just a display and moving one of my other Homes back next to it. And now one of the digit LEDs has burnt out, so it's useless for even displaying the time. Hard pass on this deal.
I picked up 6 of these bad boys. 17 bucks? Total bang for your buck xmas gifts that will make everyone happy and not make you look like a deplorable cheap @ss. Ps: WALMART employees in the electronics section hoard all the good shit in the back and act all confused when you tell them they should have 10 in stock. Eg: the $65 Sanyo 50 inch TV? Hah. Good luck. When I went to buy these, the first store supposedly had 10+ in stock. They were there the day prior as well but seemingly vanished into thin air. The next store 15 miles down the way had them right where they were supposed to be and yep, I bought 6. Gift shopping done dealio.
Ps: the new walmart app is BS. There is absolutely no way to use the app as it is now to score the type of awesome deals that you could on the last app.

An alarm clock as a gift? And they WONT make you look like a "cheap@ss" ? This is some new-age voodoo

Dude it's a lenovo clock with a ton of functionality and a pastel light bulb to boot. 17 bucks. That's like 3 trips to Starbucks. Its not a mere alarm clock. Who would pay 17 for an alarm clock. Not even me. Added up, the "gift" is about 50 bucks. I'm not ballin over here. I'm being reasonable.
Dont make me pull the list of academic accolades out of my @$$ that i pretty much never bring up until I'm met with a troll that's having a bad morning and trying to piss on my sunshine and out-logic me. It's a good gift. If you dont like it, then dont buy it.

I dont call that an alarm clock but hey, to each a slickers own.
Do you "pull the list of academic accolades out of [your] @ss that you pretty much never bring up" when the gift recipient looks at you like a cheap@ss?

I could never get Lenovo to respond to my warranty claim. AMEX covered me since they never responded.
This is technically return fraud. However, the serial number is nearly impossible to see. I had to use the flashlight on my phone and a magnifying glass to just read it to file the warranty claim. I'm so pissed off about the last hour long phone call that I'm willing to say f-k it and just do exactly this at this point. Do they really think I'm gonna spend an hour on the phone to try and scam them for a $20 clock? C'mon man. My time is worth a hell of a lot more than some $20 clock. I don't think I'm even gonna follow up on this "service ticket".
I've worked in customer service and management almost always support making people jump through hoops in hopes they will give up and go away. It is just a sign of the times and the trickle down effect of human turds ending up in that industry because nobody else wants to endure the bs. For instance, companies will intentionally make the RMA process or to make a new order to replace a defective item impossible or highly difficult for their employees to do the right thing for customers. This was working at a fortune 500 company in my personal experience, so I can only imagine it is much worse for aging common tech companies.

Also you have to download like 3 apps to get everything to work, I would avoid it.

I think you need to look up that term.
