Just a heads up I got Airpods and then switched to Pros because the base ones have the worst noise cancellation out of any earbuds I've tried. It gets hard to hear anything even just commuting on a bus or working out in a busy gym. If you're mostly using them in quieter settings then you'll be fine
AirPods don't have, and don't claim to have noise cancellation

Bought from target after price match. Just to be sure I'm not buying fake product from Amazon

There are millions of AirPods in market which are fake
You're absolutely right, there's tons of "fakes," but what makes you think someone can't buy one from Target, hang onto the receipt, then the next day, return their factory sealed super clone w/ the receipt from the day before and get all their money back?
Naturally, the Target employee, puts the
super clone back on shelf since it's unopened. Any employee of any retail store would do the same unless the store has strict policy over returned goods, but never heard of such policy.
Few days later, you come to Target thinking, no way is Amazon scamming me, getting mines from Target! Of course you're so confident that Target stocks legit ones you don't even bother questioning anything wrong with your new super clones.
Yes, their so advanced now, that you get the same AirPods pop up to pair, even the serial checks out now. You could buy 3-4 super clones for what legit AirPods cost, just need some patience, like a month. The only way to decipher the two would be to crack it open.
So If I were you, I wouldn't be sooo sure…. Happy Shopping! Smilie

This or wait for Airpods 3?
If you can wait, then wait. The 3 is highly rumored at next Apple event, which will be this month. There's also Black Friday and holiday season coming. Either it doesn't come out next month and it will be on sale again for the holidays or new ones will come out and these will drop even more.

you are right.. there is no 100% sure we get genuine airpods.. ya.. i just try to reduce the risk amazon Vs Target/Costco.. i am not able to eliminate the risk .. but reducing it as low as possible.

but your explanation makes me think twice even buying from stores.. same fake products we may get it.. thanks for sharing your thoughts...

Straight from APPLE store? But likely no discount. Unless Apple will price match Amazon price.

How are these for phone calls? I use the old included free apple wired headphones on calls for 6+ hours a day. Is it realistic to expect 3 hours per charge? And does the microphone work just as well as the wired? And for those who have had over a year, does the battery life I assume diminish?

obsolete They work just as good as the day they come out and arguably the best true wireless headphones available which are still compatible with the newest phones.
Industry has moved on, most features are now parity with cheap under 50 buds now and surpassed by many others. Also why would bluetooth stop being "compatible" lol

At 50 this would be a justifiable deal, at anything close to $100 the apple tax is still in play. The chinese have proven exactly how little it costs to make these things when reasonable quality $20 buds are profitable.

You were the one that said"obsolete". Do you have any idea what that means? LMAO

Let me guess, you haven't even tried AirPods, right? Just because they look the same and function as headphones doesn't mean they are equal. I've tried cheaper true wireless headphones. Lot of them usually have one slave headphone so you can't use each one independently or there are constant connection issues. Apple made their own chip that works very well with iPhones. I rarely have drop out issues and go for long runs in mine - nothing worse when you have to stop during a run. Yes, Apple's products demand a premium but they use premium materials, the charging case isn't made of cheap plastic and it functions near flawlessly. You are paying for reliability and ease of use - not being the best sounding headphones. Also their microphone for calls is phenomenal - lot of cheap headphones have horrible call sound quality. These are the perfect size to put in your pocket and use daily.

Thanks, didn't realize that. Do you know if this supports USB c charging? That's one of the reasons I bought g14 is to use the same charger around the house.

Honestly speaking, I never find any deal on Black Friday. You have to go midnight to get it. I don't understand those idiot showing up on every single post and saying you will get better deal on Black Friday. If you need it, and it seems good deal to you? Just buy it. Your time worth more than 10-20 bucks.
agreed, I guess some people like risking their life for 10-20 and 5000 in medical getting trampled over

Please wake up from the 1990s grandpa, I've bought all my Black Friday deals online the past years, no more waiting in line at midnight, just turn on your computer (you can ask your grandson to show you how to use one) and just buy what you want and go back to sleep
If you need more assistance, you may need to ask your granddaughter.
