It was 850 at amazon for air version with 8gb. This is way more powerful with H processor. Just wonder how they managed heat. I ordered one! You can also get i5 50 dillar less and with gpu for 1k. This one will be 760 with 10 percent amazon cash back . Not bad any ideas?

I foumd a useful link. I will cancel my order. My guess waa correct. It is too small and will limit cpu because of heat

I would just throw out there that this one is iGPU only and a different CPU, and a different amount of RAM. Whatever the cooling solution can give - it's all for the processor here.

Without dedicated gpu it probably has 1 less heat sink and the i7 also will generate more heat. Still it will have the same problem. It is really impossible to cool such a cpu which is normally used in big gaming laptop in such a small place. That is why it gets pretty bad bemchmark. It may also cause reliability issues as well . Also it is None returnable!

The way the heat sinks are setup I would assume it has two still. I would bet it works much better than the reviewed one. Bu, it's your call of course.

I have not had great experiences buying brands that sell their products directly to consumers(like Dell or Cyberpower ) from retailers like Amazon or Best Buy. If you need tech support these become orphans.

Typically laptops that have a dGPU model and an IGP only model, the IGP model is significantly cooler and throttles less, as there is less heat overall in the chassis, and most laptops, including that linked model (you can see in the tear down) have both the GPU and CPU sharing the same heatpipes, its less efficient and any GPU heat is being put on the CPU.

Also read the description "thermal design optimization with dual fans that cool the system for increased productivity" that means the CPU now gets both heatsinks and heatpipes to itself, and doesnt have to share with the GPU that the other version has. Out of the 79 Amazon reviews, 2 mention heat, the first one is 5 stars and says it gets hot but the fans just turn on when it does, the second does say it overheats but gave it 3 stars.

So I wouldnt be very concerned about thermals, unless youre doing heavy workstation tasks, but a thin and light laptop like this is not meant for that.
