IMPORTANT: don't even try to pay for a gift card with your existing gift card balance, if you do Amazon will instantly void the original gift card balance in it's entirety and you'll have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it back.

I had a $2,000 gift card (from the H&R Block tax refund program) voided when my payment for a $50 gift card payment method defaulted to using my gift card balance. Took weeks to get it back.

It's YMMV. I used gc to pay for gc all the time. Last time was the happy card & Airbnb promo last week. Purchased four different kinds. Even used the promotional credit combined with gc balance to pay the 4th one

I would instead wait and get the same deal at best-buy or target. Amazon promotional credit only applies for products shipped and sold by amazon.

While I appreciate your concern, I'd be curious as to if this were generally true. I would think Amazon would not let you buy an Amazon gift card with Amazon gift card (because they may be worried that you are churning gift cards somehow), so long as the primary gift card is for another company, it's probably OK. I have been able to pay for gift cards using my Amazon gift card balance without a problem.
