"You can still use your doorbell or camera to watch over your home and answer the door from anywhere, even without a subscription to Ring Protect. Without Ring Protect, you'll still receive real-time notifications when anyone comes to your door, and you can answer the notification to see, hear and speak to visitors in real time right from your mobile device.

However, without a subscription to Ring Protect, you won't be able to review any videos that you missed in real time, and you won't be able to save your videos or share them with anyone. Photos will not be captured. Click here to learn more about Ring Protect and to choose a plan that works for you."

Pretty hampered without subscription fee.

Ring protect plus is being replaced by the Pro service, and the price will double for professional monitoring. It used to be 100 a year, but now it will be twice that. People that have had there service before the cutoff date would get grandfathered in and the price will stay at 100 until 2025. After that everyone will get the higher pro pricing in order to get professional monitoring. Just an FYI in case you need monitoring, like myself who gets a discount from insurance with professional monitoring. This was from an email that I received a few days ago.

"You're invited to get Ring Protect Plus (1st Gen).
Today, we're introducing our most comprehensive plan yet: Ring Protect Pro.
This means some features that were part of Protect Plus, like 24/7 Professional Monitoring, will soon only be available with Protect Pro.
As a valued Ring Alarm owner, you can still get Professional Monitoring for $10/month per home with Protect Plus (1st Gen)."

Buyer beware!

1] You don't need a chime of you have a Google/ alexa app.

2] this is wired, if you don't have a wired connection, buy the ac adapter on Amazon for$18

3] you don't need subscription if you just want to use it as a regular doorbell [ I know it defeats the purpose of a camera bell, but you don't need to pay $3a month]

Goddamit!! I don't want the stupid wired ones, why they keep pushing this? I swear to god we go forwards then decide to go backwards. The point of the ring was the wireless easy setup. Give me a sale on those devices!
Buy an adapter... and plug it in...

Do most people have an outlet near the front door? I don't. Even if I did, I wouldn't want a cord or wire to the device.

Wires can actually be quite long, some have seen them longer than 1 ft, no, really.

Not sure about this exact model but most of the doorbell, if they say wired, they mean your existing doorbell wire that gets 10-24v from the transformer inside old doorbell chime. These do not need to be hardwired to a "power outlet"

Use a standard 24v transformer for doorbells. They piggy back on outlet boxes usually a light box in the basement or a closet.

For those that hate subscription fees, my eufy doorbell has been working flawlessly and has great video quality. All video is stored locally so there's no fees.

How does this compare with Ring's other more expensive doorbells?

I liked my eufy system since they had the 2k version. After awhile I noticed it wasn't sending me all the notifications that ring did so I switched back.
