Just subscribed to the ring protection for $100/year. I guess I'll subscribe until 2025. Hope they decide to keep it $100/year.

Goddamit!! I don't want the stupid wired ones, why they keep pushing this? I swear to god we go forwards then decide to go backwards. The point of the ring was the wireless easy setup. Give me a sale on those devices!
Speak for yourself. Those of us who have an existing wire prefer a wired doorbell.

Are they any video doorbells that work with existing chime? My chime is pretty loud and I want to keep using it.

Why not buy a wireless one then? I have a wireless one from Costco, I think the price was $1** with 1year ring plan (not sure of now)

I sometimes do wish mine was wired, so that I do not need to charge the battery, and might enable 7/24 video recording.
If your old door bell has wires, you can hook up to the ring battery door bell and it will charge the battery.

The Ring Pro works with an existing mechanical chime.

Amcrest AD410. No fees. Looking for the price to drop a tad and then I'll pounce on it.

Wyze doorbell is so much better, you don't need a subscription for recordings. Ring sucks

Yes, like 3 of you. As I said, this thing is going on sale because no one's buying it…so I'm kinda speaking for most people here…

Actually, your speaking for yourself. Everyone here is more than capable of replying to posts without your needless assistance.

Ring protect plus is being replaced by the Pro service, and the price will double for professional monitoring. It used to be 100 a year, but now it will be twice that. People that have had there service before the cutoff date would get grandfathered in and the price will stay at 100 until 2025. After that everyone will get the higher pro pricing in order to get professional monitoring. Just an FYI in case you need monitoring, like myself who gets a discount from insurance with professional monitoring. This was from an email that I received a few days ago.

"You're invited to get Ring Protect Plus (1st Gen).
Today, we're introducing our most comprehensive plan yet: Ring Protect Pro.
This means some features that were part of Protect Plus, like 24/7 Professional Monitoring, will soon only be available with Protect Pro.
As a valued Ring Alarm owner, you can still get Professional Monitoring for $10/month per home with Protect Plus (1st Gen)."

Buyer beware!
When is the current Professional service being replaced with the increased prices for Pro subscription come in effect?

You can stack with the Amazon echo dot ($9.99 when bought together with a ring device) + $5 promo for "student rewards" on purchases over $50

Even if you add the battery, this is still a good buy.
But wired is the way to go if possible. Its an inconvenience to get the security tools to take it out and charge it overnight, then remember to put it back in.
My battery will run out before I realize, and on the coldest day it seems.
My other one is wired and super comforting to not have to think about charging it.

You cant plug the doorbell into an outlet. Have to use the wires of the existing doorbell, or get the internal battery.
The optional chime has to be plugged into an internal outlet.

Do most people have an outlet near the front door? I don't. Even if I did, I wouldn't want a cord or wire to the device.
This one does not have an internal battery, a chime, or an angle adapter.

How does this compare with Ring's other more expensive doorbells?

I have a ring, with 1 extra battery always fully charged…app alerts me when battery is at 25%…I change battery when I get home in 15 seconds (no tools involved, I have the one where cover slides off/on easily). I've just been looking for another one on sale for a while and I get this dumb alert about a wired one lol!

I bought the solar panels that auto charge the batteries. They work great. Check them out if you get a chance.
