Not a bad deal if you need it. I would personally wait for a similar deal on the Fuel but thats because I already have a Ryobi 18V and an M12.

If you don't have an oscillating multi-tool, its one of the best tools you can buy after a impact driver and a circular saw.

I see price of 129 and tool only. How do you get it for $78 and what is the free battery hack. Not worth it without the battery

I'm waiting for the M12 Fuel. Milwaukee sent a reviewer the M12 Fuel to go up against other 18v & 20v ones and it wiped the competition out.

Hack means you return the battery and keep the tool only and comes out to $78. These "hack" are for ppl that already have enough batteries. You may keep the battery if you want but will be the 129 price

edit: with this deal specifically tho keeping the 2ah battery for $51 is not a good deal. You can do tool omly for 78 and buy the battery in retail packaging for $37 on ebay rite now. if no rush you can typically score 2ah batteries on offerup for $30 sometimes 25

Yes . Right now as example if you wanted M12 6ah batteries, you can buy the 2 battery starter pack and charger for $199. And pick a Free tool. Most pick the rocket light as the free item.
Add to cart and the register will split the cost of the items. The light comes out to approx. $90 and the batteries approx $110..
You can ship one item to home and one for store pick up.
In your case you want the batteries, so keep them and either cancel the light ,or return the light or you can set pickup to store and leave it there ,after 7 days they cancel your order and refund the item automatically. Lots of combinations.
This was just an example of all the promos that offer a free item with a purchase going on now, M18 or M12

Great tool for DIY projects. I have this one and it's never failed. Usually only use this for small odd cuts for a short period. Didn't feel like the Fuel model is worth the extra money.

What does "wiped the competition out" mean when discussing an Oscillating Multi Tool?

Typically I use a wiggle saw low and slow. Even the best blades (e.g. Diablo carbide) die quickly if you generate too much heat by applying too much pressure and/or running the tool at full power. A more powerful tool doesn't really help much like with the higher end drills or circular saws where you can get through more material faster or cut thicker material without bogging down.

In my experience all of these use very little battery life. Even if you're using it a lot, you can get through a solid day on a 4-5ah.

I think the tool in this deal is a great purchase for the vast majority of people on this site that are already in the M18 system.

If I just want the tool and want to return the battery, do I need to split the order and pick one up and have the other shipped? Or can I just pick them both up and then return the battery right away? Thx.

I've done the shipping the items that I want shipped and the item that I want cancel to be picked up at the store. It is much easier that way to cancel the item that I don't want by just calling the store to cancel. I was also able to cancel the item in the store using the app after the item that was shipped was delivered to me.

If the store has everything can you just go in and get it, and return the battery at a later date?

You can walk directly to the return desk and return it with your receipt. You purchased it . If I ventured a guess , a large amount of these get one free promos are bought with the intent of returning one of the items.
A good portion of people have an abundance of batteies from these promos over the past few years.
It is a unspoken about little perk of buying Milwaukee gear from HD.
As long as it is one of the promos where the items are divided up separately on the receipt with their own individual price breakdown.
Example $199. Total , but batteries say $110. And the glue gun says $90.

Now if someone has a equivalent HACK for Dewalt Oscillating tool, I'd be interested in that.
