Now, if you choose Laser, do you lose the router head? Busy at the moment, I guess I will have to call them.

Not yet even a novice, I just want to engrave/personalize metal tools, flashlights, etc., so if it will do that, which is still questionable, even these prices sound reasonable in comparison to what they have been. Surely there are some CNC experts on here...

I bought an awesome 20 watt one for 200. Which works perfect. Neje was the brand. I don't know if a lower powered one would engrave tools.

I am totally ignorant with these, but reading the specs, that is why this machine in 10watts is still questionable. Potentially, I do need the roller for round objects and will check out the Neje and other brands. Thanks...

I pulled the trigger. Start small, see if it's something I'll really get in to. Bonus was an added 5% back from my CC.

Not much different than a 3018 cnc which you can get under 200 on Amz or ebay.

In fact, i see many similar parts is the same as 3018 machine, the Z part is platic which will broke if you try to cut hard wood with wrong setting.

At this price, i rather grab 3018 machine from amz.

Here is some information from the seller
If you buy CNC + laser head, they include CNC router head and laser head.
Regarding the laser power, we should be concerned about the laser output power, many newbies confuse the electrical power and the output power, this is the marketing approach of the sellers, they only emphasize the electrical power but this can easily mislead the beginners. Also they are using a compressed laser, not a standard laser.

Thank you. I knew it was going to be a learning curve for me and why I have not jumped into the CNC world. My cousin has a large Aplazer that I can get any laser work done, but I just want one for engraving names on tools and items to personalize.

Yes! In this sort of solution the laser is fully visible when in use so you need special glasses to protect your eyes. Nothing wrong with the solution just be really careful and do the research to protect you and those who may come to watch. We have a laser cutter which is enclosed and thus the filter is built into the cover if you lift the cover the laser turns off. Especially important since the kids use it and honestly watching the laser do it's job is very cool to watch. So eye protection is either built into the laser unit or you need to wear the protection.

Anyone who already dabbles in tabletop CNC care to chime in and suggest what is a good source of plastic/metal (where/who, what material should I get) for some outdoor display/decor projects? I am hoping to move beyond wood, and not sure if vinyl/MDF trims or boards from Home Depot is a good choice. Thanks.

If you have the space, I'd recommend separate machines for each purpose to avoid swapping the heads and changing the settings. It's not difficult to do but it's a disincentive to switch for a small quick job. You should be able to find each system at around $200 or less without any serious loss of quality, Sainsmart frequently offer a 3018 Pro on Amazon or Woot at around the $200 mark, which is quite a good quality machine with reasonable after-sales support.
