Do they automatically upgrade you to the next edition (e.g. year 2022?) without any extra charge?

Yes, I have this app since 5 years ago I think, they had this days free deal and I currently have the 2021 version with no extra fees so yes they keep updating

The normal price is $24.99. They do lower it to 99¢ occasionally (usually for a week), but I don't see where it's ever been a giveaway. I got this in 2017 when it was on sale, and they keep updating it. I would recommend grabbing it while it's this price.

My guess is that the developer always intended for this to be a $1 app but marked it up to $25 so that they can routinely put it on sale for $1 and get free advertising.
