This is a great starter set and will have most of what you need to tackle most basic to mid level home owner projects. The circular saw might be a little lacking, but just always run the 4aH battery with it and you should have decent results. The great thing about Ryobi is that once you begin to expand your collection, you will be able to sell the old tools and recoup most (if not more) of your initial investment.
This is pretty much their best 6 tool combo for someone that has nothing, at this price. You might find it a few bucks cheaper down there line like someone said, but you can't go wrong with these at this price.

Just got my first house, is this a good all-around kit or should I buy specific tools when I need them? Should I wait for Black Friday for a different set?

I am waiting for some tools I need to buy. But this year black Friday will be interesting in the middle of supply chain issues.

For the homeowner that has nothing, why not? You can upgrade or pick up further needed tools when on a deal. Just know that whatever tool line you choose, most will be committed to that tool line because of batteries and chargers. This set may be $179 on Black Friday and maybe even cheaper, but maybe not.
Another option is to pick up corded tools that for most, will be working with more power long after these battery tools are outdated, or batteries no longer work.

Buy it if you want to work on your home yes is it best price were in the mid of one crisis after another (Let me get my Crystal Ball) its less than 50 til BF so .....there only a dozen or so tools i have seen in family shop.. but for the longest time only had these table saw, Jig saw, Scroll Saw, Drill press, Drill and with this kit you can build the rest my suggest is if you have the money go for it and start building your skill if you want to wait cant blame you.

Better than BF based on previous 2020 BF ad. I doubt you'll get anything better than this.

I haven't seen this set much cheaper. I bought a different set that was more expensive and got fewer of these tools with a smaller battery, and u ended up having to buy three of the tools in this kit. If you're doing home improvement, I use all these tools regularly.
I have all these tools and that is a great price.. The previous poster was right that the circular saw is pretty tough to cut a 2 by 4 with but it's great for plywood. And you can expand this with a ton of other items in the future

This is more than enough for an occasional home owner diyer. Additional bonus is that you can return the sander for about 45 as it comes in a separate retail box, making the six tool set for 155. Which is a huge slick deal.

Wait until closer to BF. See how this 'deal' was posted 3 days ago and only has 15 replies? There's a reason for that.
