Offers Pro Members: $220 Trade In-Credit + Bonus $40 Credit for Total Trade-In Credit of $260 for Nintendo Switch Consoles. Trade-In Offer is Valid In-Store Only.

Trade-in Promo Value is not reflected on the Gamestop website.

Today I traded in my Nintendo Switch (Grey) with an additional pair of Joy-Cons ($32/each, previous post for 50% bonus credit for controllers) for $324. I used the credit towards a new Nintendo Switch OLED (White) and only paid $27.10 ($22.10 after my monthly Pro Rewards Coupon).

Image of trade-in values and receipt attached.

QA Note: The bonus offer may not be in all stores. The end date for the console trade in bonus is currently unknown. Rumors per users in thread are that it'll be valid at least through the end of this week (10/16) but no one knows for sure. So I'd suggest calling your local store or stores to make sure they're still offering it before you go in. Edit: The OP has reported that the bonus for the joy con trade in is now expired

Just a reminder that thumbing up a deal does NOT also rep the OP too, so if you want to rep the OP, you'll need to do so manually Wink

The launch switches are special because they are a dying breed of easily hackable switch devices (new models like patched, Mariko, Switch Lite, and OLED require modchips). You can hack it by using an "rcm jig" (a piece of copper wire in a joycon rail slider) which will exploit the nvidia tegra recovery mode (rcm) particular to these old models and allow full access to the internals of the device by pushing a payload file. This will allow you to install custom firmware and use homebrew software as well as play pirated games.

Technically you can use a paperclip to enter recovery mode but we are no longer cavemen and rcm jigs are readily available for the price of a McChicken on Amazon and Ebay.
This seems like a great trade in deal but I think I'll be keeping my V1 unpatched Switch. It's starting to become rare. 🧐
Special but there's like 6 million of them. You might get another $100 if you're lucky.

Not true.

"Patched" just means the ipatches they apply at the factory which cannot be applied afterwards, so if it's "unpatched" it's hackable forever regardless of what firmware it's on, see https://arstechnica.com/gaming/20...-hackable/

Super tempted if it was possible to get the OLED at GameStop. Or maybe to trade in and buy the animal crossing switch…

When you trade in, do you need to give them the dock too? (I'm assuming yes)

Did you trade in the second set of controllers because you don't need them or because there's also a newer or better version of them? I know there's that drift issue that had been ongoing and am just wondering if the current available joycons are an "upgrade".

I have a second set I don't need right now so it makes it the trade up you did to the new Switch version super tempting but know I'll probably have to purchase joycons again in my the future.

Wow, would this be worth trading in an OG launch switch? So many hours on it makes me think it may be worth upgrading but then again, I'm not sure if OG switches are more valuable for the homebrew market.

I asked quite a few times whether they had bonus credit towards the switch and they always said no… Does the trade credit also apply to the switch lite ?
