The best mesh router I have ever owned. Worked flawlessly until I got super greedy and spent 2K on wiring the whole home and installing TP Link EAP-660HD AP (TP Link earned my trust via M9 Plus and I didn't even consider Unifi or Zyxel or anything else).

BTW, this is much faster than crappy Google mesh system, including the newest one (I used nest mesh for few months before getting M9 Plus). Two of my extended family are still using M9 Plus and it still work flawless for them.

You are expected to get around 550 to 600 Mbps on the main router (YMMV based on your wireless interference). If you wire the satellites they will also get you same sped. Otherwise speed will be based on wireless link speed. And M9 plus has tri band. So even wireless linking works flawlessly. I was pulling close to 400Mbps in my office and on very far end of the house I was pulling about 250Mbps.

I have a 3950 square foot house. I have a 4 pack of the gen 1 Google wifi. I have computers, TVs, kids tablets, smart switches and outlets and bulbs galore. There's nothing crappy about Google mesh. I do prefer it had remained in its own app instead of being smashed into the Home app. I did install the wiring myself to each one (modem->router->switch->satellite pucks). I've never had a speed issue or failure or any problems.

Also replaced Google Wifi 1st gen with these. Huge upgrade. These routers tend to get hot underneath so best to elevate them a bit with stick-on tabs or find another solution to let them breathe easier

I've just recently started having trouble with my M9 network. It all of a sudden stopped assigning an IP address to one of my devices that was connected via an ethernet cable. Googling the issue revealed that this is not an uncommon issue. I was going to switch to AP mode but I read that mode had issues as well. I've been happy with this for many years but now I'm thinking about switching to a different mesh network altogether.

I have a specific need for a mesh / bridge that allows me to use my desktop PC wired in. The WiFi part of this needs to be full duplex. Don't care about speed, few hundred Mbit is fine.

Will this product allow me to do that? Will I need to dd-wrt it? Or do I really need Wifi-6e for a full duplex wireless mesh/bridge?

Fyi, The "newest" Google mesh system is not their fastest one. It's AC1200 and it's just a rehashed model of their 2016 version. I have a few of their AC2200 routers around the house and they've been flawless for me with a ton of devices connected to it. Prior to that, I had a few nice Asus routers that I used as a mesh system. I switched because I was having the occasional crap out where I needed to reboot the main router (that's with me having it auto-reset at 3am every day), which I couldn't have happen at random times for some of my devices. My previous system was certainly more "customizable", but for stability and certainly simplicity, the Google has been great for me. As far as speed... I consistently get 430+ Mbps download and 475+ Mbps upload. I have not tried the M9 in this OP, so I can't comment on it

Can anyone speak to the Smart Home features of this setup? Does it have Zigbee, Z-wave, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support? I'm currently with Smartthings and have about 35 devices from bulbs, locks, switches and sensors. Has anyone made the switch and was everything compatible? Thanks in advance

Don't even bother trying. I have ST too and the built in hub in the m9 is not even close. Most devices are not compatible.

Our shop had a mix of TP-Link AC1750's, too (2x C9 and 1x C9.) We contacted their customer service, often, with issues involving dropped connections and weak signals - often (temporarily) fixed with downgrading firmware or unit replacements. The day the warranty expired their customer service was more than happy to let us know and discontinue all communications. We've switched to ASUS, which has it's own problems, but nothing near as troublesome as TP-Link.

If you do do any FPS gaming, stay away from these. They have a network spike every 20 sec or so, even when backhauled. It causes the game to lag/stutter, and it's bad enough to ruin gameplay. It's a known issue that they don't seem to think is worth fixing.

If you don't care about FPS gaming, then these are nice. I wired my gaming machine through my old router, and use the M9's for wireless internet. They extended my network to an outbuilding, and I get good speeds out there. It beat digging and running a cable underground.

When I was writing about it, I was referring to nest router. I literally bought nest routers separately and created mesh. Even the routers are not TRI band.

Installed these for my parents and they've since stopped complaining about spotty wifi. Its great that I can view and manage their wifi from wherever so I can do some minimal troubleshooting without having to make the drive there. We all know how difficult it is to try and troubleshoot tech problems over the phone with parents!

I've had this for quite some time too and it's very reliable and works great. TP-Link was updating firmware regularly but haven't seen any updates recently. We have a 2600 sqft and these provide full bandwidth coverage everywhere.
