The best mesh router I have ever owned. Worked flawlessly until I got super greedy and spent 2K on wiring the whole home and installing TP Link EAP-660HD AP (TP Link earned my trust via M9 Plus and I didn't even consider Unifi or Zyxel or anything else).

BTW, this is much faster than crappy Google mesh system, including the newest one (I used nest mesh for few months before getting M9 Plus). Two of my extended family are still using M9 Plus and it still work flawless for them.

You are expected to get around 550 to 600 Mbps on the main router (YMMV based on your wireless interference). If you wire the satellites they will also get you same sped. Otherwise speed will be based on wireless link speed. And M9 plus has tri band. So even wireless linking works flawlessly. I was pulling close to 400Mbps in my office and on very far end of the house I was pulling about 250Mbps.

I have a 3950 square foot house. I have a 4 pack of the gen 1 Google wifi. I have computers, TVs, kids tablets, smart switches and outlets and bulbs galore. There's nothing crappy about Google mesh. I do prefer it had remained in its own app instead of being smashed into the Home app. I did install the wiring myself to each one (modem->router->switch->satellite pucks). I've never had a speed issue or failure or any problems.

Also replaced Google Wifi 1st gen with these. Huge upgrade. These routers tend to get hot underneath so best to elevate them a bit with stick-on tabs or find another solution to let them breathe easier

What does that mean, M9 will lose connection? Using wifi backhaul and a remote M9 disappears or drops or specific wifi devices drop? If the later, did you try disabling "fast roaming"?

I bought the nighthawk and I hated it. It dropped signal a lot and I wasn't able to separate 2.4 and 5ghz signal. Ended up buying the x90 TP-Link decos and it's worked great. I was able to set up a 2.4ghz guest network for my smart home devices. I probably would have picked up the ones on this thread if it was on sale then.

Hehe! It is the best mesh router!! Now I upgraded to TP-Link EAP-660HD (3 of them ceiling mounted) and a Omada OC100 controller, a Firewalla router with IDS and a Netgear POE switch! I no longer have mesh "router" :p In fact my router is not recognized my most people here as "router" and most people probably doesnt even know about APs. So, technically that is the BEST mesh "router" I have ever owned!

I'll have devices say there's no internet connection. That's when I started to look at the modem but the computer connected by ethernet cable is still online so the modem is in the clear. I tried disabling fast roaming. I can't say if I saw any real change with that or not. It is too intermittent and variable that I haven't been able to pin down a reason. And like I said, I tried changing the pucks around in case one was glitchy. I tried adding another one into the system wondering if there was some magic blackhole zone but that didn't do anything. I tried to remove one of the three wondering if it was too congested. Basically nothing made a difference. It works for the most part and is up most of the time. It's when it just stops that it doesn't make sense. It's also not for that long, maybe a few minutes and it goes back to normal. I've always thought there were gremlins in this house for other things. Maybe they're messing with my wifi when I'm not looking.

Will this work as a mech system if I have a Asus gaming router ? Trying to find 2 mesh access points and it seems the asus mesh units don't have good ratings.
