These are great speakers and the sound and bass is awesome. I had to return mine because of the low hum. It was driving me crazy. If my computer was in another room with the these speakers it might be okay. Hopefully they will fix the hum issue or at least include a power button to turn off the system power completely with needing to unplug them.

Good quality, these are really good for computer speakers, and the sub can handle the bass coming from a creative soundcard

I remember buying these roughly 30 years ago… not kidding. They were ~$250 back then. I am tickled to see they are still exactly the same.

Have 2 sets and love them, they don't get moved though.

Our old Comcast box had volume lock, so you could unlock it and control the volume with the Comcast remote. The new digital X1 box does not and the TV does not have a headphone jack. We had to get a separate volume box that accepts optical inputs. We also got one of those "Channel and volume only" learning remotes to copy the IR signal from the little flat rectangular remote it comes with both as a backup and as a better remote. The X1 remote can't learn or guess the codes. Still worth the upgrade to HD, but it's quite a workaround if your TV has no headphone jack.

This speaker set has been a popular thread ever since I knew about Black Friday shopping. This speaker set is so good that it withstands against most modern speaker set in its class.

Couldn't help myself after all and ended up ordering these 3 days ago (at same price) despite my self control all the other times. UPS was supposed to deliver today and it still says that but it hasn't moved since Monday. Wonder what's going on.

I had issues with hum. Found it to be the power supply for my uplift desk. I moved the control pod to the opposite speaker and that 3 foot distance change decreased the hum drastically.
Dang, and here I was thinking those things were complete crap! Will have to try this, thx!

This was $249 at launch 20 years ago. $149 from 10 years ago?
With inflation, they can't possibly keep the quality same. Can they?

Roughly the same, when I started seeing them at Costco I was shocked. Had the 4.1 set from like 1998, beat the heck out of them.

I'm still rocking the 5.1 set.. two fronts two rears and a sub. Still going strong after 20+ years

I had the circuit board beefed up at some point nearly a decade ago+ by some guy where you ship in the board and he switches out (upgrades) a bunch of components and then sends it back.. I think it was $125.

The thing about this set is you have to spend at least a couple hundred to match what it does. Do separates sound better. Yes of course. Do they cost anywhere near this price. Heck no!

Bought and returned last time. Could not stand the white noise it emits. Shame because it sounded good when something was actually playing.
