Very appealing deal with a 4-core CPU. The Costco deal is interesting too. You gain a backlit keyboard. It also comes with an IPS screen. I wonder what screen is in the Staples deal.
Does this or the Costco one have type c charging? I got in a IdeaPad last week/the week before. Now my aging parents are looking for one.

This is a SOLID deal IF you need it now. If not, I would wait for BF.
The problem with Black Friday now is the really good deals seem tougher to get every year.

"HDMI 1.4b" port. 1.4b came out in 2011, 10 years ago. Shouldn't new laptops these days have an HDMI 2.x port?
Probably, but if you have 4k monitors you might not be shopping in the bargain aisle anyway.

Touchscreen is not in vogue anymore or it belongs to a higher price range?

HP consumer laptops are garbage. Buy something else.
You're certainly welcome to your opinion. Mine is that they are decent. My past 4 machines have been HPs, I also run a computer services company and recommend them for friends and customers... all have been great.

One weakness is the power port, which has failed on one of my older machines (back in the Pentium 3 era). My biggest concern today is the hinges, which can be weak as well.

In comparison, my day-job company provides me with Dell business machines (Latitude series). My personal HPs have outlasted and outperformed them all.

I have, in fact, just recommended this machine to a coworker who is happy with his two kids' HP machines to date as well. He just wants something newer and low cost, and this is a great option.

Again, these are just opinions, and I'm not calling you out... I just wanted to provide the contrasting opinion to other readers..

Who buys a TV that is not 4K anymore. Lots of people use their 4K TV as a monitor as well.
I paid $240 for my 55" 4K TV so how is that not in the bargain aisle?

So they absolutely should have HDMI 2.0 or Thunderbolt 4. There is no good justification for not having it.

A recent one had both for $500 so no it is not a high priced item.
