And I paid 160 for the same thing a few months ago. I feel like I got a very poor value at micro center. On a number of items.
micro center is a great value for the cpu+mobo combo (almost always the cheapest you can find brand new). for all the other items, you have to do your due diligence to make sure it's a good value.

You sure it is the same model? If you go to crucial website you will see they have dozen similar memory modules with different msrp depending on chips used
not much knowledge in RAM in general, i have a alienware R8, currently have 2x8 ram installed. looking to upgrade. prefer to remove the existing 2, and install new 4x16. Will this one work?
Running 2 of the 2x8GB 3600 CL16 white RGB kits since June with no issues. XMP enabled no issue and tests are all clean with my 10700K and Z490 setup. Paid $105 for the first set, $83 for the second. This is a great price for solid RAM.

According to their website, the R8 has a 9900k so you can get up to 3200MHz and be fine. Getting the 4x16 in OP should work great. Make sure to enable the XMP profile in the BIOS after you install it!

You have to take into consideration that memory prices have dropped from a few months ago. I can go back into my PC parts purchasing history and easily see that memory I purchased in August is definitely cheaper now. So at the time, you probably did get the best deal out there or close to it but now it is cheaper because the overall prices have dropped.
Would the CL 15 / 3000 currently available 16X2 be any good, as compared to CL 16 / 3200? I want to add this up to the already existent 8X2 CL 16 / 3200 RAM I have. Thanks a lot.

This is why I don't shop retail. A 20% premium is tacked on to be on a store shelf.
