From when I did this over the summer:

The parts needed: breaker $25, breaker interlock $50, inlet box $50, 40 ft NG hose $75, 4 prong 30 amp 75 ft power cord (to reach the back yard) $150.

Before labor, it will cost roughly $350-$400 in parts to hook this generator up to you main panel.

California people: bought this last sale and received an additional $400 from California Edison. Was told I qualified for $200, but was sent a check for $400. Not sure if it is still eligible for the rebate.

Previous threads had complains that this has a high THD (25%) - typical for these low end type of devices. This will make your LED lights flicker and your robot wife act like it's that time of the month.

I personally don't think this is super concerning - just something to keep in mind.

Would you mind sending the link to where you filed for the rebate? I looked at my utility company's site and it doesn't have this model included.

Just spent 15min looking. Looks like they no longer offer the rebate for this model. SoCal Edison looks like they set up their own marketplace, and even though the will rebate for outside purchases, have pared down the list of qualifying generators.

Does anyone recommend a transfer switch? How much to install a transfer switch to use NG?
If you want to use this generator you should not do a transfer switch to your whole home. This generator only supports 30A at 220V and most homes will need 100A at least for peak events. So if you want to use this generator you will be installing a sub-panel onto the master panel (for circuits that are essential (fridges, sump pumps, lights, etc.) ) and a transfer switch for that sub-panel. Depending on how many circuits you need in the sub-panel and your local ordinance (some will force you to install arc-fault breakers just for touching the panel) you're looking at probably $800-$2000 for the electrician work (parts and labor) depending on where you live.

If you're going to the expense of a rewire like that, I would recommend a bigger generator with more features.

But if you're like me and you use these for the once-a-year power outages, Heavy-duty 50' extension cords go on sale at costco for 2 for $40 all the time.

Most transfer switched that I've looked at support 6-10 breakers. You don't need to run your whole house. These switches allow you to connect directly to the specific breakers you want to run. All homes nowadays are 100 amps plus. Getting a switch for a 30 amp 220 vac generator is just fine. Just make sure the load on the breakers you're connecting to don't exceed you gens capacity.

Standard price is $999 online and $899 in store.

I picked one up today. Great reviews, quietest of the class, enough power on NG for my needs and I can use LPG or gasoline if I need more power. I'm satisfied. Oh 3 year warranty too!
Ive had this generator. The pulsar 12kw dual fuel i have now is way quieter

I added a 50A input circuit and a breaker interlock. $200 in parts. Works fine on everything but main AC.

Breaker interlock is much cheaper and flexible. And completely legal. Only downside is that u wont know when power is back on.

A generator is hard on electronics, so why does this cost as much as a Wen inverter?
