I would agree with you if Roku makes money off these players, but they really don't. They make money off you using it i.e. ads and digital in-Roku purchases, so they are better off supporting it as long as possible.

Most of these are more of a loss leader to get you into or keep you in their ecosystem.

Ditto here. I switched payment method to PayPal, went through the PayPal authorization, then when it should have reverted back to the Roku cart, it said Roku site was down. Went back to the cart which still showed Roku Pay but finalized the order anyway. Got notification from PayPal the transaction went through. $6.01 total with tax.

This is a good deal. Unless it's an amazing deal I will never buy from Roku directly ever again. After having continuous connection issues and constant emails back and forth Roku said it needed to be replaced. They gave me an rma expect me to pay shipping back to them and wait for the new Roku to ship after they receive mine and process the return. I find it ridiculous I have to pay for shipping of a defective item I've had issues with since day one. This is something I'd recommend buying local so if you have any issues you could do a simple instore return.

This feels like a trap from Roku to see participation based on logged user names....I don't think most are getting this deal to put it bluntly but I think harvesting is occurring!

What is the trap? They already have my user account, credit card number, and serve me targeted ads at home. They know tons about me. Getting an extra Roku for $5 for the basement TV is a great deal...

I've owned 4 Rokus over the years I think, starting with the original way back in the day. This deal worked for me.
