Depends on if you see yourself needing to bevel in both directions. I'm only a home project guy and not somebody with a keen interest in woodworking. Out of all the times I've used my single bevel mitre saw in the last few years, there's only been once where I've actually wanted to have the bevel in the other direction. Can still work around it, though it just may not be as neat of a finished product if you're anal about that kind of stuff.

Why would you choose this over the sliding one? I mean besides the great price.

This is a great deal just for the saw let alone a double bevel and a stand. Wish I had the $ right now

Just depends on what you want to cut. IMO although this is a good price you'd really kick yourself for that few times you have a large sheet of plywood you need to cut

Smaller to store and less space to use without those rails sticking out the back. Eliminate rail inaccuracies and slop.

What do you really need to cut with a miter saw that requires the extra capacity of a slider?

Then you could use it as a chop saw. Actually I tried to make this iPad holder, ours broke and I thought I'll just use the miter saw to cut an angle in a piece of wood. But the wood was too wide so I had to turn it around and try to angle it the other way to finish. It was okay but not very clean doing it that way.

'Tis a poor craftsman who blames his tools. Flip cut can be done cleanly with practice. If I regularly did a lot of wide cuts it would make the expense/disadvantages of the slider worth it, but I just don't often enough and I'd argue I do a lot more woodworking than your average homeowner.

How's the stand vs. the Ridgid rolling stand? My basement's too small for a permanent miter saw setup and the door will be too narrow to move the saw and any stand in and out together, but I've been using a cheap Craftsman folding miter stand for years and it's... a cheap stand.

The saw is mounted on a couple brackets and lifts really easy off the stand. The stand itself only weighs like 30lbs and folds up to be stored.

I use my Craftsman double bevel more with the slider than as a chop.

I'm considering this if only because the Craftsman isn't as accurate as I'd like and takes a lot of setup. Which is why I'm also looking at table saws instead.
