That's technically correct. However, I have both and I don't see much of a difference to be honest...if that helps.

Their two lines are Goodgrips (better, sold at BB&B and most nicer stores) and Softworks (sold at Target, Marshalls, Costco, others). These look like the higher end ones, but without a box, it's hard to confirm. But Macy's sell goodgrips stuff, so these are probably goodgrips too

For utensils, the softworks stuff is noticeably less good. Cheaper materials, basically self-made knockoffs. For the POP containers, they're VERY similar. Sizes are ever so slightly different for whatever reason, and some have rounded square buttons instead of circle. Beyond that, they're almost indistinguishable.

****That all being said, they recently updated the design on these. The lids are thinner which allows them to fit a little more, but they make a MUCH worse seal than the old ones. When they're full, you cannot lift the new ones by the lids. The lids just pull off when you try. They make a good enough seal on the shelf, but you could easily pick it up wrong and have it drop and spill. The older ones were much better, both goodgrips and softworks.

For reference, the Costco set is 9-piece and was $47.99 on sale. I ended up buying two sets and have been happy with them.

I can't speak to the other containers you have, but Oxo Pops are not bug-proof, and that's important to me, so I no longer use them.

We got a horrific pantry moth infestation once, and they got into all of the oxo pops. Pantry moth eggs come into your home in purchased grains or flours and such. If you don't freeze those products for two weeks upon buying them, you risk the dreaded pantry moth. They get through screw-on lids and ziploc bags, too.

Now, I only use glass clamp-lid jars that have the rubber gasket and plastic Tupperware that has a solid locking lid with rubber gasket. No button on top that allows space for creepy crawlers to enter.
I had these in the last place I lived. Man those things are nasty to bring into your home! One thing I can add to this is watch around the place you are shopping. In flour area and grain area. If you see these things flying around, DON'T BUY any of the items! It kinda like a seasonal thing for them too. If you are aware of this, it will save you. The moths are kinda white and about the size of a dime or a little smaller, from my experience anyway.

they aren't vacuum seals, air will get in. the thought is that they would be better and more easily organized than plastic bags, etc.

the lids were never meant to support the weight of the container. How could it? The weight depends on the size of the container, how full it is and the density of the objects placed within. Air tightness of the seal isnt necessarily proportional to the shear strength of the seal.

these are nice for organization, but you can't expect them to defy physics. if you need a vacuum seal, get the food saver or the zwilling vacuum sealers.
Great points, and I would tend to agree with you, however OXO says right on their website that these are,

"It's an airtight, space-efficient and stackable storage solution that's ideally sized for rice, pasta and lentils. POP Containers keep dry foods fresh and pantries organized, plus the wide range of shapes and sizes provide new possibilities for storing everyday staples like flour, sugar, coffee, cereal, oatmeal, grains and spices."

Like most things in life, YMMV and these may work for you and your application of them.

I too had a terrible invasion of the pantry moth. I bough some natural food whole wheat product in a thin plastic bag and the moths just exploded. I have been invested now for about 4 years but now just 1 or 2 pop up every month or so. . The first year I really did not know what was going on and how to deal with them. They real liked the cheerios and oatmeal products, but left my flour and corn products alone. They would eat thru the cardboard boxes and then eat thru the heavy plastic inner bag, Everything would soon get little holes in them or they would squeeze thru the smallest seam. I would even but items in my freezer or in my van on the coldest winter days. This would kill the moths but it would not kill their eggs or even the small grubs. As soon as the product was brought to room temp the grubs would start crawling around again. I finally had to go thru every item I had that was not in a can or jar, put every box or bag of food I had in a glass or heavy plastic container, like the Rubbermaid, and the rest in 3 or 4 plastic bags, and then put them in a heavy duty trash bag. 5 layers of plastic was just too much for the moths to eat thru all, but they would sure try. Even now whenever I buy oatmeal when I get home I immediately transfer it to these heavy plastic 1/2 quart nut containers that I save. .
We have the same problem (which is why I bought these, so hopefully they work). But my wife found a "trap" online that works similarly to a fly trap but supposedly has a pheromone scent which attracts them and then they stick to it and can't get away. As I recall, it is in a triangle tent shape and you just stick it in your cupboard or pantry. I haven't tried them but it seems like it might be a good option.

Also, these moths, or rather the grubs, like to eat wool, so they will attack your expensive wool clothing if given the chance. I found that out the hard way.Mad

I was confused as to the pricing as well since the costco ones are so much cheaper. $49 right now actually.

But, the difference is that the costco ones do no have the attachment point inside. Seems to be a Version 1 vs Version 2 difference. So I assume the seal has also been updated.

I've been happy with the costco ones. They'll probably add a new sku for v2 at costco in the future.
Yeah, speaking of the Costco set, I just went into the kitchen and lifted all of them by the lid and none of them came off. Some have relatively heavy stuff in them, too. If I pull by the lid I can take them off, but they seem pretty tight as they are. Not sure if this degrades over time or not. Pretty happy with them - very easy to see what's inside and the different shapes and sizes are very handy.

My total for the 5 piece set is $42.87 with the promo code. Two sets of the 3-piece collection comes out to $51.10. Am I missing something?

The 5 piece thats 51.xx should drop down to 31.xx before taxes.

You gotta do it in two separate orders also. The discount is $20 off anything above $50. So a $100 order still only gets $20 off.

Salad spinner at Costco is on clearance for $12.97, but in ugly green. Still a good price.

Are the OXO Pop containers really worth the price? Conflicting reviews online whether they seal well.
No, they're not. I bought a set of them about 6 months ago. They don't create an airtight seal. I can depress the button on the lid and the lid just lifts right off with no resistance. It doesn't seal at all. I was really disappointed with these and won't buy them again.

When you depress the button it releases the seal....

For everyone that has mentioned the seal is subpar, you guys do know there's an OXO satisfaction guarantee, right?

https://www.oxo.com/guarantee

I just got mine today. Kinda surprised it shipped and arrived early. I'll see how good things work here.
