Is it worth paying double for this vs. the $50 Onn Pro tablet? I only need it for basic web browsing and occasional Youtube/Netflix/video playback.
Thank you.
If you're tech savvy I would get a Fire HD 10 (2021), I got mine for $80 on Prime Day. I do feel that this tablet at $99 should be a pass tho, there's a new A7 Lite 8.7 that was recently $110 (it's $129 now) that is an upgraded version of this model. Since you have very little expectations I would go with the Onn first, then return and spend more if it doesn't hit all of your checkboxes.

I would still go with Samsung instead of Fire HD. The general specs would be better and less hassle to convert Fire OS into straight Android.
But either would beat the Walmart-branded tablets hands down even though it's a bit more money.

I agree with the last comment. I have not had good luck with the Onn brand. I had a TV that was just bad (I gave it away). Then I tried to go the cheap way and get an Onn tablet It was the 10 inch one with only 2 mb RAM. I'm not sure if that was the bottleneck or the Onn brand, but I was unable to do any multitasking and I even found videos from Amazon prime and youtube often buffering.
I have had pretty good success with the Fire tablets though. You do have to do some modifications to get android, google play store etc.
I replaced a Galaxy Tab A 8.0 with a Fire HD 10 back in 2020. The interface, speed, file system access and lack of Amazon bloat were better on the Galaxy (even when using Fire HD Toolbox to suppress the latter on the Amazon tablet). All that said, for simple media consumption I like the Fire HD better. Bigger screen for cheaper and works well enough for watching movies and reading e-books.

I had an Onn 50' TV... Had an Onn portable charger and cable as well. The TV was light as hell and broken within 3 months, charger and cable didn't even make it that long. Onn is worse quality than dollar stores brand for anything.
