I don't understand buying a mattress pad that isn't waterproof...is it just me?

Yes. Periods, sweat, etc. Don't want that on the expensive mattress.

Agreed. The first thing I noticed is that it wasn't waterproof which pretty much makes it useless.

I think they mean to protect what's underneath, I don't think they are sweating loosing the 17 dollar pad itself

I have a waterproof bed bug encasement on my mattress, and a cotton mattress pad over that. I can't understand why anyone would need a mattress pad that isn't waterproof AND isn't cooling (this polyester is very sweaty... I know bc I bought one before I realized it wasn't cotton).
