Thou did not get the memo that Black Friday sales are happening all the time due to shipping and logistics issues.

I loved this game but it is very short. $30 isn't bad, I would bite if I didn't already own it.

This is my Wife and I's favorite game to play couch co-op with. We beat it on every difficulty and there is extra stories to get platinum trophy's on. If they ever come out with a Pikman 4, I will preorder that right away.
Hopefully, they hear you! I am on the same boat: I would love a Pikman 4 ^___^

Nintendo makes the best games. That's just a fact. Even an old game like Pikman 3 is getting far more hype than a snoozefest like Returnal.

Yeah they haven't done that with any of the games this generation. Usually by this time in their consoles life cycle they'll rerelease titles for a cheaper price but this generation more than most has Nintendo's 1st party titles keeping their price stubbornly high.
Probably because people keep buying them?

Do you both have to have a copy of the game?

This is because Nintendo has no competition left. The other companies are too focused on making games as a service, interactive movies and introducing woke characters. Nintendo can charge whatever they want because they are the peoples champ.

How many hours to complete the game? Is there replayability? At what price msrp would you say is SD worthy and do you think Nintendo will go that low?

Yes it can. Pikmin has about as much story as Mario. So you don't need to have played any game in the series to play this.

I think it's definitely it's worth it at $30. I don't remember how long it takes to beat. Maybe 10 hours or so? And there is a lot of replayability. It's fun running through the campaign again and there are challenges to replay as well.

Re: can it be played without knowing anything about it or playing the previous games: absolutely. It does a great job of introducing every play mechanic and gives you enough backstory to act as a good starting point. If you're not sure if you will like it, try the demo - it gives you a good taste of the story and challenge modes. It's a real time strategy game, but feels very unique. As for your playtime / value questions, it'll take a little more than 12 hours to beat the story mode, but that opens a higher difficulty level, side missions, and a challenge mode that sucked me in for another 25-30 hours. To 100% everything it took me about 70 hours, but I really enjoyed the experience. I got it for $40 digitally and it was well worth it, but I also had nostalgia from playing Pikmin 1. Since it's a first party Nintendo game, I wouldn't expect it to get lower than $30 unless Nintendo brings back their value series branding like "players choice".

Absolutely. In fact, going back to the other games is pretty rough. I loved them at the time but this one fixes a lot of small problems you wouldn't notice about the others until they're fixed. This is definitely the best starting point. Aside from a handful of inside jokes you won't miss out.

He said couch co-op, meaning sitting on the same couch playing the game together on the same console.

This was my first pikmin game. The story and the on-screen text dialog felt tedious and outdated (a frustrating amount of time just looking at the main character bobbing his head and making noises while clicking through monologs about the circumstances leading up to this point in the story) but maybe that's just an established style for the series. It took me some time to power through all that, plus the tutorials - seemingly catering to the very young - to get to the enjoyable strategy gameplay part, but once I did, I enjoyed it very much.

I was however, caught off guard when it finished. I expected the main campaign to be maybe twice as long. This is by far the shortest first party nintendo game I've played. Outside of tutorials and story, I'd say there's maybe 6 hours of actual gameplay here. Decent deal for $30 but I'd be salty if I had bought it for $60.
