Woot! is selling the Sun Joe 10-inch Electric Chain/Pole Saw for $64.99 in multiple colors. Free Shipping when you log in with your Prime account, otherwise it's a flat $6 rate. Woot! is an Amazon company.
I have the 802 which has a smaller 8 inch bar. Works pretty well with a sharp chain. I think mine could handle a 3 inch branch with a sharp chain.
Chain for this is SWJ-10CHAIN. Looks like it runs about $15 or a bit less for a generic. Impossible to justify having one professionally sharpened given the cost. More power to you if you can do it yourself.
Mine oozes a little bar oil while in storage, but this seems to be a universal "feature" of chain saws.

I got one of these a few years ago and I've used it once in my yard. I've used it about ten times in the yards of my neighbors and co-workers. I am really deadly with this thing, hanging one handed off a ladder reaching for a branch, and when this thing cuts through, all the weight shifts and everything comes crashing down, including me. Definitely hide everything inside and create a 20' radius non man's land.
All that to say, there is a right way and a wrong way to use this.
Good deal? First time planning to buy a pole saw and don't have much idea.
I got one of these last time they had em on sale and used it for the first time a couple of days ago. Not bad for trimming branches imo. Used it to cut up some bigger logs I had lying around and it was something of an effort. Tbh, it's probably not ideal to be cutting a huge branch off a tree with one of these. The fact that you're reaching out for it and the cutting surface being so far from your core makes that a pretty dangerous prospect.
I never had this but bought a crap one from a yard sale for $10 that cut branches probably 6 to 8 inches. I have a 40v brushless kobalt that cuts easy through a 2ft branch. I think it's $179 but I got it on clearance for $120.

Good for thin branches. Kind of under powered or small for thicker trees.
I think model number is same here
How thick are we talking?
