Anybody own this? Have read mixed reviews. Thinking of buying one as a Christmas gift for my in-laws. They like their Roku but watch on a 32" TV and the buil- in speakers are terrible. Tough to make out dialogue so they close caption everything. Figured this might be a good solution.

We purchased one for our bedroom the last time it went on sale for $99, and we really like it in that situation. Our bedroom tv is a 50" Samsung and the streambar was a big improvement in sound quality for us. Also, the Roku remote operates the tv, built in Roku, and sound which is super convenient to have one remote work everything.
We have the Sonos Beam, Sonos Sub, and Roku Ultra in our living room. The Roku Streambar is about half the size of the Beam, so it's a small footprint. I completely agree the Sonos Beam sounds much better but it should based on cost and size. (The new Beam Gen 2 is $450, a Roku $30-$70, and the sub $749)
So if it's a bedroom or home office this is pretty great. However, for a main tv room I'd personally get something else if you have the means.

Sound is much better than our Samsung's built in speakers, but I agree it doesn't hang with Sonos. We have the Sonos Beam and sub in our living room. Of course that cost about a grand so it certainly should beat a $99 system.

Beam is between $360 and $400 right now not $1000 but yeah this is still cheaper just not very good. Barely better than tv speakers.
my samsung TV built in speakers sounded better than this, i ended up returning mine
Hard to believe. I have a 2021 q80 and the factory speakers stunk. This streambar improved it immensely. Especially when I added in the two satellite speakers. Amazing now.
