As the post below you pointed out the CPU mark score is ~60% higher for the 11th gen 11600
+60% is not 'negligible' ..
Not that I think its worht the extra $100 for most folks though.

It will be similar price range. You might pay extra $20 but you will be glad to do that.

10400 is about the same as 3600 and 11400 is faster than 5600. AM4 is at the end of life. The 11400 was a very noticeable upgrade over 3600 for me. But then it was only $160 @ Microcenter.
And this isn't the F, so it got video on chip, If you don't want to game then it's way better than 3600 due to the high cost of video cards.
I built a system for my brother with this, an asus tuf z490 plus motherboard, and 32gb ram. It's perfectly capable to handle day to day use (he runs ms office, Firefox, and music player without difficulties). His wife plays some games on it and hasn't had any problems but she's not playing cyberpunk 2077 on highest settings. He also does some video encoding, not too heavy, and it does that well enough too.
So can my Q6600 overclocked @3GHz lol

I'd love to upgrade my G3258, but it is 5+generations behind on the motherboard sockets, so it never made sense.
Whereas with AMD, the socket is around for about 5yrs as the primary and they work hard to ensure newer CPUs work in older motherboards. I know that my Ryzen 2600 (13000 passmarks) can be replaced with a 5600X in a year or two when those get cheap for a 40% performance boost. AM4 is AM4. The Ryzen 5 and 3 CPUs come with coolers too and if you don't need the hottest GPU, some have onboard GPUs that are great for office/video productivity stuff and light gaming.
Something for people who don't have lots of money to blow on the hot gaming stuff may want to consider. Decisions today impacts the available decisions in 2-6 yrs - and the price then.
I wish I could say that there weren't odd requirements around m.2 slots, GPUs, and SATA ports in AM4 systems, but there are. Get the motherboard manual online and read those sections carefully. A MB with 6 SATA ports and 2 m.2 slots may only allow 4-SATA ports to be used if 1 of the m.2 slots gets used. The performance of the m.2 bandwidth may change based on the GPU(s) installed too. If a x16 GPU is installed, then the x4 m.2 NVMe slot may only work at x2 bandwidth. It is all documented in the manual, but not on the outside of the MB box which will make the highest possible claims for performance and ports and addons. Beware.
OTOH, Intel XMP RAM settings seem to "just work", so no fiddling around is necessary. I've had to tweak Ryzen RAM settings to get a stable system a few times over the last few years. The RAM specs for Intel seem a little slower, but much more compatible.

Also, FCLGA1200 socket have no future.
If you get 5600G now, you can upgrade to 5950x in the future.
plus you can get 5600G for around $200 with Mobo combo deal @microcenter

If you buy a system with Intel, you might have a hard time to sell the CPU in the future on eBay or aftermarkets.
my 2 cents.

You are just a shill. That's just non sense all the way. Looks like you can't even get 11400 at normal prices any more. MC sells outdated 10400 for more than 11400 used to sell for. 11400 was 140 with $20 mobo deal.
Maybe he's like me and doesn't transcode any of his Plex streams. If your end device supports the codecs, you don't need to do any transcoding. Quality is always better without transcoding anyway.
