it has HDR,better build quality...I did try both of them and kept Dell S3220DGF (Got from Best Buy,PM with Microcenter).
Compare them both here:

I can't complain at all since it's a lot cheaper than superior panels. Oh, and adaptive sync works perfectly.

No speakers but I paired it with a $20 Logitech pair from Best Buy n they are good enough for when I don't want to use my headset.
Looks like Dell has extended holiday return policy thru 1/15 at minimum, with free return shipping for customer

Grab the S2721DGF or the S3220DGF if you'd like a bigger monitor. I believe the s2721DGF is still on sale. It's a better monitor overall.
Only issue I have is that these screens will go black for 2-3 seconds while playing games.

Microcenter will not ship it. The only store with that monitor in stock is Diluth, GA.

I think you have to look at your fps peak in the console or PC set that performs high refresh rates, in terms of gaming. I could say if that is not irrelevant for your son, you could grab the 27" Samsung curve monitor that is cheaper than this one , but in general I think this is a good option, for me I prefer an IPS panel than VA (better color performance)
edit. I forgot about the gc, just go for this one haha
