People in here are completely missing that the point of this lens is it's size - yes, there are lenses from third parties and Sony with faster aperture… but they are bigger. Defeats the whole point of Sony adding these.

There are very few lenses that match this quality and size - though there are cheaper compact lenses, if you're ok with a quality compromise.

I see a lot of people here wanting 1.8. The Samyang 24 f1.8 is the same price. No one will know a difference unless you're a pro and I still would like to see them accurately pick which picture is from which lens. Sony glass is great if you don't have a budget. If you do, look at third party lens makers. Tamron lenses are great alternatives too.
