Hawaiian Airlines and Expedia have round trip airfares travelling to and from Ontario CA (ONT) and Kailua-Kona (KOA), Lihue (LIH), Hilo (ITO) and Maui (OGG) Hawaii for $197, making 1 stop in Oahu Honolulu. These are main cabin "basic" fares that includes a personal item and a carry-on bag. There is no seat selection or changes.

Pro Tip: ONT-OGG is only $181 rt if you can go Jan-March, select dates but quite a few.

Fwiw, I booked via Priceline after I got off the plane in Kona 3 weeks ago, paid $20/day+taxes for a full size car (Impala).

Not if you book in advance. I just got back and had no problem getting a vehicle at least 2 months ahead

don't expect the same level of service in kauai or maui. i don't know about the big island but they're short on servers, and everything.

these are off-season dates so it's safe to say rental cars won't be an issue. the car shortage was over the summer when travelling to hawaii was at its peak.
