They are not the same thing.

Mapping allows you to define how it moves to clean vs just randomly spinning and moving around in a room.

Boundary strips keep it from going certain places and can be added/removed without affecting the already defined cleaning area. Boundary strips are good to keep the vacuum out of certain areas at certain times. Like in a messy child's playroom. You may not want the vacuum going I there when your child has a bunch of small toys (lol doll pieces) on the floor, but you do want the vacuum going in there when the room is cleaned up.
this will not actually map your house. it will show a map after but you cannot do anything with it at all. You cannot label rooms and send it to clean certain areas like a roomba.
I'll say I bought this on the last FP deal to upgrade an older eufy and I notice no difference. The app is worthless as far as I'm concerned other than it's easier than having a remote nearby (but not that much easier) otherwise the vacuum ability is the same as the older Eufys so I'd say get whatever version you find cheapest.

Why does it need boundary strips if it has mapping?

Edit: apparently the "mapping" is really only useful for efficient routing not creating zones/rooms/boundaries. seems like a weird omission if you bother to include hardware/software that maps the house.
I can't imagine regularly putting this strip thing down on the floor to keep it in the areas I want.

Just installed LVP flooring in our new house and were talking about getting a robo vac. This seems like an excellent deal from comparing to previous and current prices combined with good reviews, so pulled the trigger. Will put it to the test in a couple of days when it arrives.

I just ordered one.

$20 cheaper than last FP deal, this isn't getting much love, but based on the last post on this, seems like a very good buy.

Perhaps people are expecting even better robot vacuum deals so close to BF.

Still doesn't make any sense, with mapping you have no go zones

How does this compare to roborock S4 max? Have all hardwood floors and seldom use the mop function. But wonder if having Lidar makes that big of a difference.

I purchased this last time around and have really enjoyed it. We had a relatively dumb vacuum robot before without any sort of mapping capability, and this device performs tremendously better. No real complaints with it apart from it picking up cords and clothes off the ground (our fault for leaving them out).

Price of this has really gone down. I remember looking at this last year and it was around $220 to $240.

I had a basic non mapping eufy for years that did a great job. Upgraded to a mapping unit a few months ago for $200 and it does the same work in half the time with more reliable coverage. I've given eufy as wedding gifts and everyone has been pleased. If this is something that works for you and your space, it's an excellent value and a good performer, with replacement brushes and filters available and affordable.
