You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Some reps are nice and will let you do an iPhone to iPhone backup at the point of sale.

Go to the actual product page for your iPhone 13 of interest and add to cart. Then select trade in a device and the 12 pro should be there
