You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Should offer some good money for my s21+ and they would probably finally convert me over to iPhone after never owning one. Seems these upgrades are always the same company though

I finally got it to work I created a new account and did the deal just like I have been doing all weekend and it worked they gave me the phone and I got the "your order is ready for Pick up."

If you are trading in a phone, keep in mind that you should take pictures of the inside of the SIM tray slot so you get a picture of that white strip. Traded in my iPhone XR and T-Mobile claimed it had water damage. No way was it every around water since I baby my products. Of course I didn't take a picture of the inside tray slot, showing the white strip instead of the pink (indicates water damage). T-Mobile reps then said that they removed the pictures showing proof from the claim online after 2 months without ever warning me and removing the promo from my account without notice. I finally got them to treat me properly after going to upper management and listen to what doohickey the entire thing was. They finally re-added the promo to my monthly bill. All is well in the shire now thanks to some T-Mobile reps who listened but remember to take your pictures.

I opened new lines at Costco for BOGO and an order from BestBuy got approved for "upgrade." On the TMo site I still see a button saying "upgrade" so completing the Best Buy transaction did not burn my upgrade status meaning I can probably order again. I won't because I have $820 in rebates scheduled for that new line - $720 from TMo and $100 from Costco and I'm scared I have already put them at risk. Perhaps my fears are unfounded - I certainly hope so.

Do they need to activate with same phone number (that got upgraded)? Or just with a blank SIM card /other sim ?

In my case the upgraded line is not the one who will be using the phone

Please advise

I chose to activate with the same line. If you read enough posts from the two deal threads you will realize some folks are activating the phones on a variety of providers - if Best Buy does not open it the phone will lock to whatever Carrier SIM is inserted first.

Their integration with TMo is not 100% at this time. In most cases you can ask the Best Buy rep to leave the box closed and simply enter SIM Card info for the new SIM which in many cases fails to activate. Open the sealed box and insert SIM of choice but know that your unlock will depend on that Carrier's policies.
