You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

While buying phone in best buy for t-mobile , add your trade in then next page it will ask new account or upgrade. Just choose upgrade then enter phone nbr and last 4 ssn. Thats it.

OK, I was able to purchase online then pick up the phone. Went to Best Buy and they wanted 40 dollars to transfer data. Don't pay, you can set it up on your own by signing in to iCloud. Or if you have an iPad, set it I up near it and it will copy setting from the iPad to the phone. Shame on Best Buy for trying to strong arm $40. They could also allow you to do the same copy thing with the old iPhone, but it takes a little while. Approximately 30 min. Also, you may have to call T-Mobile to "reactivate" the SIM card. My phone worked for 30 min, then stopped.
